One time was enough.

Good player, but he really needs to be the main man to be effective, and we have a better, more versatile version of him in Eriksen.

It was the same with Dempsey, who had an unbelievable season for Fulham prior to joining us.

Not good enough to be a starter for us and doesn't like sitting on our bench - that's why we sold him. Pass

Would sooner we go for a younger more developmental playmaker to back up Eriksen rather than a Sigurdsson type who we're all well aware of his strengths and weaknesses.

I agree to some extent but that is based on a career at Spurs that was really before Poch was in charge. As MP has said himself, he feels that we were hasty in selling him and on reflection it would have been smart to allow Poch 6 months at least to get a feel for the player and then if it still didn't seem like a good fit then he could have been sold in the January window.

I personally think he did a lot of good for us but lacked consistency. He'd come on in a game, be good, get a goal/assist but then start the next game and be invisible. He also got lumped out on the left a lot which didn't suit him. I do believe he'd be better in a 2nd spell at the club but I don't see it happening.

Additionally, 40m asking price is absolutely ludicrous considering what we sold him for. We're not Chelsea, this is the kind of dumb shit that they do and will do again when they buy back Lukaku for triple what they sold him for. Mugs.

I agree re: Chelsea, unfortunately the annoying thing is they have a bank of 40 players on loan who they are more than happy to sell in order to buy who they need, in addition to which they seem to get massive money back for their outcasts - 60M for oscar? 20M for Ake.... this move than covers them overpaying. ****s.

Have we done this for any other players from our recent past?
on Danny Rose's birthday the other day, when Parker rejoined, the 1st anniv of signing Wanyama, the 28th anniv of signing Lineker, 2nd anniv of signing Trippier, 30yrs on from Clive Allen's big season. The difference is that Gylfi plays for Swansea now.. although Spurs did also wish Ryan Mason a happy birthday. There are probably more but I can't be bothered to keep scrolling down. The 'on this day' seems a standard filler post at the moment.

It's a smart strategy. Buy them young and cheap, put them on loan and let them develop value before selling...
