and the mousasi/weidman fight!

all in all, 210 was a bit of a damp squib

Really looking forward to UFC on Fox 24. Obviously the headliner is a mismatch but any fight involving Mighty Mouse comes into that category.

Little Heathen also looks a clear pick over Moicano but Thug Rose vs Waterson is a great match up as is Jacare vs Whittaker. No idea which of the girls will win but I fancy Whittaker to spring the upset against Souza. Souza's a great fighter and his BJJ is probably second only to Damian Maia but getting Whittaker to the floor is no easy task. Both have great chins but though Jacare hits really hard he's a bit plodding on his feet so I think the Maori has the advantage in the striking game and can win to derail Jacare's title ambitions.

Edit: Great performance from Whittaker. As I thought a really bad match up for Jacare who would have beaten the champion Bisping with ease. Bisping vs Whittaker is hard to call though, if the Brit beats GSP (which I think he will :cautious:).

MIGHTY MOUSE!!!! Absolutely dominant. What a performance! 10 title defenses in a row! Needs 1 more. I love watching him fight. So fun.

Mighty Mouse is totally dominate but he needs to step out of the comfort zone if he wants to be elite and make big money

It's all well and good setting records and beating everyone in your division convincingly but if he wants to get to the level of the likes of Conor, Jones, GSP, Silva etc he needs to be in big fights against opponents people think could beat him and are big names in their own right

If that means him stepping up a weight class he should do it

I can understand wanting to defend his title once more and break the record but really after that he should be looking for super fights and to headline pay per views not to just be on free to air fight nights against people everyone know he's going to murk with ease

Or maybe he has no desire to be an elite star and is perfectly happy with the money he's making in his lane and continuing to set records and reaffirm his position as no.1

As a fan I'd like to see him test himself and take on challenges that seem impossible from the outside (he could probably get a title shot against Cody without having to take another bantamweight fight first and potentially replicate Connor's champ champ status for example)

viewing numbers for UFC Kansas were the lowest in FOX-UFC history

It wasn't even a weak card, Roy Nelson is a pretty big name, Waterson has had a lot of media hype and popularity around her since beating Van Zant and there were other interesting enough fights like Whittaker/Jacare on the bill

It just further highlights how lacking DJ is in star power/pulling power

break the record and then throw caution to the wind, step up in weight and make a name for yourself. He deserves to be a big earning now fighting on free tv and getting minor viewing figures while he beats up people in mismatches (no fault of his own other than not stepping up in weight)

That's a shame. I thought it was a very interesting line up. You had the UFC debut of French phenom Tom Duquesnoy who's never been in a boring fight, a couple of fascinating match ups between Jacare/Whittaker and Namajunas/Waterson, and one of the best grappling matches i've ever seen between Tim Eliot and Louis Smolka (fantastic transitions :wideyed:). Then at the top of the bill you have possibly the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter of all time.

Personally I enjoyed it a lot more than many of the over-hyped damp squib cards that have racked up pay-per-view numbers in the past.

I really like the look of Brandon Moreno, young guy and has got everything.. most importantly he's entertaining to watch!

Cub Swanson looked very good on the weekend also.

Amazing stuff from Gustafsson at the weekend. Uppercut after uppercut. I'm hoping to see a rematch with Jones for the title. I think that will be another great fight if it happens.

I can't wait for the fight between Aldo and Hathaway this weekend. Now that should be a great fight too.

Still can't believe gustafsson didn't get the decision against jones first time round

Yeah great from Holloway. He started slow and weathered the storm early on. Aldo looked good but started to get a little tired again late in round 2 and then 3. He seems to be going the way of his teammate Barao now that he has been beaten. He's still a dangerous fighter but seems a little unsure since the KO by McGregor. I think fighters are seeing that now and seem a bit more confident fighting him. Fair play to Holloway he earned it and I always enjoy watching him fight.

Won't be much of a bout...but both should make a whole lot of money!

100 mil dollars a piece has been mentioned. 10 ounce gloves i think (i'm a tad surprised Conor didn't push for 8's but then maybe Floyd wouldn't do a deal)

No matter what the outcome Conor is setup for life,k even if he loses it doesn't really matter because that is what is supposed to happen.

Exactly, this is just about the pay off. I think Mayweather plays with him early to make a spectacle of it. Once Conor gets tired and sloppy (maybe round 3 or 4) then Mayweather will attack and finish him.

It's a great fight for both really. Mayweather breaks the record with 50 wins and 0 defeats against a young charismatic star. McGregor makes more money than he'll make in his UFC career in just one fight. Nobody expects Conor to win so he has nothing to lose really.

For Boxing fans they need to have a good under card to keep them happy. I'm sure plenty of Boxers will want to be on it though. This will make a lot of money.

Mayweather has done this before. He fought in WWE at Wrestlemania against Big Show. So he is just doing it for the money. Also Ali also has fought a wrestler in Boxing when he fought Inoki in 76 although with unusual rules. It's a spectacle as much as anything. I think the press conferences will be more entertaining than the fight

I had a strong feeling for about 2 years that this would eventually happen.

Just based on the amount of air time the notion of the fight always got on US sports networks I would watch when on vacation in vegas

To me the only sticking point was whether or not the UFC would allow Connor to fight (basically whether or not a deal could be made for them to get enough money from the deal to make it worth their while)

Once the UFC were on board it was only a matter of time

As for the fight itself, it's a joke in my eyes and I really have no interest in it

If Conor somehow lands a lucky ko punch it would be the most amazing thing ever...
But its kinda like saying if the all blacks get a lucky penalty in a game against Real Madrid they could go on to win the game

There won't be enough money in cards budget to have anything like a decent undercard realistically

Will be interesting to see if they just use largely unknown TMT boxers or if they try to capitalise on the two markets and have some in ring mma fights on the undercard too

Personally I'd have both to add as much brand recognition as possible to the event to the mma and Boxing fans as well as the casuals who will just be drawn in by the hype (but I suspect the ufc would not want to host mma matches without a cage since its such a huge part or their brand)

I've seen lots of cross martial arts events before and I think it adds to the overall enjoyment od an event and breaks the monotony of an undercard but obviously none of them have been anywhere near to the level of this
