I also don't think it can be underestimated how important it is to buy proven Prem players.
No but it can be massively overestimated. Buying PL proven players means nothing if the players are not good enough. It is not enough to just buy a proven PL player as you may well end up throwing your money away.

Yeah this is the only way I see this one happening. He's entering the last year of his contract, the nightmare for any club is the scenario of Levy being the only interested party! :joyful:
I doubt Levy is the only interested party though. He'd start for most clubs in the bottom half of the league.

Well yes obviously, in theory, but in reality players are usually linked with numerous teams in the press, even if it's just the agents drumming up interest, but when they do go it's almost always to one of the teams linked with him.

So far the only teams reported to have enquirer about him are us and United. As I say, I think that speaks volumes. He's just not worth anything like the money Everton are going to want for him.

He can't be too bad if Mou has shown abut of interest?

I just don't see where Everton have any leverage whatsoever in negotiations. The whole world knows they need to sell him this window or risk losing him on a free, and he'd be crazy to accept a move to the likes of West Ham when he could run his contract down and likely be able to join up with any of ourselves, Arsenal, or United a year from now.

Koeman can threaten to freeze him out in a World Cup year to encourage him to move but with the demands of the Europa League there will be no shortage of playing time to go around at Everton next season. They're absolutely insane if they think anyone will shell out 50m under the circumstances. I could see this going right up to the end of the window and him moving to one of the top 6 for a relative bargain, although to be honest I'm not entirely sure I want it to be to us.

Really?

I just don't think he fits in at Spurs - he'll be a small fish, and he strikes me as the kind of player who needs to be the opposite.

As long as the player decide it's us he want to join then I think we can get him at under 20.
Everton's hand isnt' strong in this.

All this talk of 50m is bull, there is no way he will go for anywhere near that Spurs hold all the cards.

The ONLY reason Spurs are in for him now is because he is in the last year of his contract and we can get him on the cheap - we do this alot.

I cannot imagine any club in the top 6 being interested and I cannot imagine Spurs being that bothered if they didn't get him. So my guess is 15-20m, maybe what we sell Sissoko for.

Anyway Spurs will wait or may not even bother if Everton are gonna mess around

We'll sign him for about £25 mill in the end. Might take a while but I can't see where else he'll go (if we want him) - Chelsea, Utd, Pool or Man City will be looking elsewhere. Arsenal maybe and as someone else said a crazy bid and crazy wages from the classless West Ham owners if hey start to feel a bit of pressure.

He's finished at Everton. The whole thing with Koeman saying he needed to make his mind up by the end of the season has played out into them splashing a wad of cash on Klassen to replace him.

Now it's just a matter of where he goes and for how much. The transfer market is insane at the moment, so I don't expect him to be that much of a bargain either.

This is likely to be the most important move in Barkley's career. If he moves to the right club, with the right manager at the helm, it should get him back on track to the career most thought he would have. Moving to a club, say like West Ham, could see him drift along into obscurity.

Agreed, he's definitely got unharnessed talent. The right setting could see him really push on. I don't think the scrutinising glare of playing at United would do him any good, look at Luke Shaw, nor would going somewhere where he's the the big fish, like he is/was at Everton or would be at West Ham.

But coming to us, or even Arsenal would likely be very good for him. He'd not have the pressure of carrying a team, and would have room to develop his game.

Everton still interested in Sisokko? I'm sure something could be worked out ie. sensible dialogue.

can talk about potential of a player until when? we were talking about the potential of sissoko all summer long - the kid just doesnt have it for me and it's getting to the point in his career that it looks like he might never have that world class talent. Don't get me wrong he isnt a horrible footballer but we should be a team looking for title winning personal

i just don't see where he would get in our team, it feels like a steven pinaar (buying because he's cheap) type signing.
he himself says that the Dele role is his best position, he's not a DM, not a wide man and not creative.
