Couldn't see a thread. Kicked off today. Russia played some decent stuff but they were up against New Zealand's shit kickers.
The Mexico/Portugal game was a damn good game of football. Mexico always (for as long as I can remember) try to play a good brand of football, but rarely seem to have the uber players that Argentina and Brazil produce. Not sure why.
I don't really get why this tournament isn't more highly regarded (maybe because England are never in it ?) but it's pretty decent concept. Winners of all the world federations battling out in the future World Cup venues, with teams seemingly a little less cautious than they are at the WC etc.
It's held for two reasons, and one of them is to make sure the host nation gets a "trial tournament" before the World Cup to ensure that everything's in order/on schedule. What the hell is this ludicrous tournament? Little more than a FIFA-Blatter vanity project it seems to me. The tip-off is in the name - the competition's organising principle is the administrative regions of FIFA. Oh, the romance!
There's too much damn football, and for FIFA to be hastening the advent of a 50-week a year game is just bullshit.

The other reason is pure FIFA vanity project.
why is Germany there? just to fill out a group?
Entertaining ain't it.
