While I understand that it's disheartening that all our rivals are looking to spend big early while it seems we're sitting on our heels, just remember it was the same last summer, they all spent big, and we matched them all on the pitch.

Also if Lemar does go to Arsenal
that means Sanchez is most likely gone.

Exactly. And Sanchez is currently the better player, so whilst Lemar has lots of potential, he won't replicate Sanchez so it's not really an upgrade of such. I'd be a bit wary of a Lacazette/Lemar partnership but we really don't know how good Lacazette genuinely is until he's in the Prem - why is he continuously left out of the French squad??

As long as we bring in a replacement similar or close to Lemar's level then we will have nothing to worry about.

We have heard the 'Calm down its way too early' too many times imo. With Zaha, Lemar etc off the table I cant even think of any other decent targets that we could get. Very disappointing news to wake up to.
Agree with the first part, it's not 'too early'. I'd love to see us get our targets in before pre season and not have to panic buy on deadline day but we very rarely seem to do this. I understand it's getting harder to find players to improve us but surely with the scouting network the club has, we can find suitable & realistic players. Patience is the message again but with certain gaps in the squad which in my opinion desperately need filling, frustration is hard to ignore.

The shit Start meant we were adrift of the leaders from the getgo. Our second place finish owed everything to our performances from December onwards. Unfortunately we were coming from too far behind.

Wrong By matchweek 8 we were 3rd 1 point behind shiteh the chavs were 5th 2 points behind us. It had nothing to do with the start. It was too many drawn games.

There is absolutely no guarantee that Lemar will cut it in the prem anyway for starters same with lacazete*
Tough league tough pace clever defenders hardest league in the world in my opinion.

I for one certainly won't be panicking if either or both sign for the nomads especially if it means sanchez leaves.

I am certain the club will do the best they can within the restraints we have and we will be just fine.

It's still to early to be disheartened but it's natural to see others around making their moves although I suspect we are making ours but doing it in secret, at least I would like to think that.
As for last year it was brilliant and we are proud of the manager and the team plus levys master plan of a stadium is coming together, however I am slightly reserved this time around as I don't think we can doing it and hope to stay there with them.
Trouble we have is that we need top players on the whole to win top things but we won't pay the wages, so therein lies the crux of the problem which is pay top dollar and they come if as we don't then the task is much harder.

Fingers crossed we can pull another Alli out of the hat 'cause we definitely cant compete with others in signing 'big name' players due to the wage cap. Not necessarily pessimistic though as we do have a good record of finding unearthed gems

Guys, our early season form last season is also being discussed in the Brexit thread. I suggest you move across before A&C exercises his poo poo stick

Do people think that a 'big name' is something we will attract or Poch will go for this summer? Seems like whenever we're linked with so it gets poo poo'd. I'm not saying it's a 100% necessity, but I still think it's important due to all other big teams seemingly doing so but also because it further shows the current players that this is the club to be at. I don't mean that incoming players is the only variable to determine that of course but I do personally think it helps.

Any genuine big name is £50m so no

Hi all

I have some ITK that has been verified and approved by A&C this morning.

Was a mates for a BBQ last night and her family are big Spurs fans.
Her old man is mates with Alfie Mawson's dad, Gary I believe, who's a market trader in Ealing, they have known each other for ages.
Anyways they had a family funeral last week (sadly) and my mates Dad was told by Gary they have an offer on the table from us that they are seriously considering, the bid is £15million.

A pinch of salt and all that however, she was adamant!

Cheers

Thanks for posting. Sounds like a good replacement for Wimmer.

I'm not too worried at this stage. The club are working on signings, we just don't know who they are at the moment. I'm sure JJ could throw a few names our way if there wasn't a need for secrecy.

It's probably a good idea to delete all of the slow start posts before A&C see's them.

At the end of November we had 6 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss. Not a shit start.

In case "up to December" means "including December": at the end of December we had 10 wins, 6 draws and 2 losses. Not a shit start.

You can't make this argument stick, because it's objectively not true. We lost all of two matches in the first four months of the season. Calling that a "shit start" is the "Trump's inauguration crowd" of bullshit arguments, because there is a pile of evidence that contradicts it.

Now. Back to ITK. I prefer the ITK that says the club is sitting about feeling un-pressured and relaxed, while the fans are flapping about madly, rehearsing the inaccurate, outdated arguments about "other teams spending big to improve" and "being left behind".

That isn't our strategy anymore. We tried that. We finished 5th and 6th.

Now we build a team. And all of those big-spending teams except one finished behind us last season.

Yup and more spending = more pressure from media and fans, wish more people would realise that our model will always be a success when you compare it to how our rivals are spending money.

3 maybe 4 teams wil be expected to win the title, that's not going to happen - something has to give.

I don't see why we can't get a big name player. We might not get the biggest name, but we aren't far down the list of preferred options for players. How many of the teams above us are looking at players in the same position?

Any genuine big name is £50m so no

No they aren't. There are loads of factors that dictate price. Dani Alves is a big name, but City are probably going to sign him on a free transfer. Obviously his wages will be huge though. Silva was less than £50m as well.
