Sessegnon has become really difficult due to other clubs.
Really want to be wrong on Lemar but that is not happening
Don't put this in the RO please

Can't get the big names, can't get the promising youngsters.

Money is talking for all levels of player now I guess.

I wonder which bargain bin we will end up shopping in...

Even European clubs seem to be aware of the going rate once PL clubs get involved. I think we are very much in danger of getting left behind financially, and as much through our outdated valuations as our actual financial limitations.

Just don't think things like this are a case of 1st come 1st serve.
I believe this is a great point which should be repeated often.

If I you're a hot property you won't sign the first contract shoved in front of you, but see what offers come in and negotiations will continue accordingly.

It's not as simple as many think it is.

I think we need a bit of perspective here. I know Mourinho hasn't got the best reputation for bringing through young talent, but Manchester Utd are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

And they won two trophies last season which must be quite appealing to any potential signing.

Ive got a really bad feeling its the Goons with both. A massive 2 fingers to us if they can get our targets without CL

Wages is everything. What a sad state football is in

Only silver lining is that this sudden urgency and heavy spending (reported) from them is that they are liking scrambling to save face when their best player leaves (Sanchez). Based on current rumours they seem on course to do a good job of it.

Especially with the atmosphere there last season. Even the manager admitted it was toxic.

Nothing new here, money talks always has always will!! Been the same for donkeys years, we are shopping in the bargain bin again and it will cost us in the long run as I see us regressing this year due to playing at Wembley and how shit we were in the champions league, add to this the fact that all teams coming to play us are gonna be up for a match at Wembley! Will be like playing away every week!! This time next year I can see at least alli, rose and ericksen angling for moves away. Hope I'm very wrong.

I don't see that as a Silver lining at all. If Sanchez goes they lose their talisman but gaining Lacazette, Lemar and Sessegnon would give them an 'actual team' that could sort a lot of their problems out. I'd rather they stayed a one man team personally.

I think if we were linked to a 14 year old right now it would be a struggle quite frankly, when you see teams in the lower half of the table willing to spend quite heavy on fees and wages such as zaha signing a new deal then you know it's going to be tough with our wage policy.
Much was said last year about how good it was to have such a tight collective bunch who love poch etc, but that will only serve to carry us so far we have to evaluate our business model although I won't hold my breath.

Lemar could be thinking massive wages and no distractions in terms of fighting for the league or lower wages and champions league but with a club whom imploded in the group stage and are facing a group of death next season with progression unlikely.

I strongly feel missing out on Sessagnon will hurt more than Lemar.

Most depressing if we can't get this one over the line in the segment of the market we should be more than competitive in.

Watch this space, it'll be Michail Antonio for £40 mil on deadline day
For me, i'd much rather we stick with what we have than splurge relatively huge amounts on essentially squad filler - even if we have to rise above the calls from fans and media alike to spend the cash in fear of being 'left behind'.

Either we secure our prime targets or trust our current team bringing the youth through - no fucking plan C,D,E. etc....

They are a bigger club though to be fair. If Everton beat us to CL football next year I wouldn't expect us to directly lose out on players to them .

One would just hope sessegnon would would look at the 'progression' of Walcott, Wilshire, Ramsey, and the other rivals who barely have any recent history of developing British talent. And compare that to ourselves
