I'm not going to do anymore verbal poo poos as it's taking the fun out of it and days of random guessing !!
All day on tw***** I get this and that weird player names thrown so no more poo you can all apply your Spurs filter to think 'would we really sign this player' and then think about wages and Pochs philosophy and our current financial position and there your answer lies.....enjoy x

Welcome, Vincent!

To be honest I'd be happy if we didn't sign any players for the first XI, it's 2-3 players for the bench we require and they could be anyone Poch believes he can nurture into the next Alli, Dier, Rose etc....

Ideally if we only spent our additional funds (tv deals) on giving the players the wages they deserve (relative to football - not the real world!) then I think that means we keep our players and that in itself is a good transfer window.

I really hope this complacent thinking isn't shared among the people at the top or else we will be in real trouble

i think its realistic rather than complacent

I mentioned in the old ITK thread that I have to believe Poch and Co believe they can get more out of the squad than they did last year. There has to be something said about stability within the ranks and I think that is why we have seen a consistent improvement in the side. We have one of the youngest squads with players that continue to improve. Yes a bit more depth is needed and yes, who wouldn't want a 5 Star prospect coming into the fold, but again, I think the ethos of the current club is to ride the wave of stability and move forward as a UNIT.

Just like others have mentioned before, no signing is a guarantee and who knows if the "quality" other teams are signing will make an impact. We know what we have and I have to believe we trust in some of our youth to adopt the ethos of the club and bleed lily white.

Sounds like he's proactively poo-poohing all incoming transfers. Using the old financial position line.

Levy really has brought off the perfect fix. Nobody even gets angry anymore with the total and utter lack of spending... Making up his excuses for him. While in reality Lewis could lose 100M without even noticing..
All this saving is just to maximize the value of their shares. Abramovic has put one billion plus into his club, Lewis and Levy to will take one billion out of ours..

We have spent 240m out of our pockets (without loans) for stadium expenses. Without a sugar daddy, this does not happen. It is Levy's vision 10 years back that got us a world class academy, that is helping us today. Our transfer policy & pragmatic approach in transfer window is proven and will give us the sustained progress, when we will have to pay back upcoming 500m loans.

Although not a surprise that it clearly will, especially with the reported rising costs, didn't Levy say the new stadium wouldn't affect our transfer market spending?

Whilst this may have been said, it's still an optimistic view that it wouldn't. Of course it will.

For me, what is frustrating is not the fact that we don't spend big money for huge players...but players like Max Meyer, Sessegnon, last year--Timo Werner, Demarai Gray, Thomas Lemar shouldnt be out of reach or players we miss out on for clubs like (Werner, RB Leipzig & Gray, Leicester). Those are exactly the sorts of buys that make sense--Lemar for his rumored price tag, is still a 21 year old developing player. I understand the argument that we cant match wages that other clubs can but I haven't seen any reporting that his wages will be close to 100k pw so why can't we compete? All of those players are highly touted youngsters that are well worth the investment yet we struggle to get the ball over the line, why? And if we truly are not interested in them then what is our transfer strategy because it isn't clear why we wouldnt pursue starlets w/ both club + national team who dont command monster wages or transfer fees?

I may be completely off the mark but we will be aiming to break even as we do every window.

Now for that to happen we may need to ship on a few first. For example, I cannot see us purchasing Barkley before we sell Sissoko.

So... The question is - do we have any offers for Sissoko and one question nobody has asked but everyone has presumed, do we want to sell?

Any ITK on outgoings and who we are going to ship?

That is one of my gripes. Very often, businesses raise this kind of capital by issuing new shares. We seem to have done this entirely through retained earnings - which is good for the existing shareholders but bad for the business itself...
