The majority of those players will now be off on holiday.
True. But the trend tends to be that the transfer window picks up steam after the tournaments end. Not saying that the players will be the ones putting a whole lot of focus on it. But the agents can now put in some hours since a lot of agents tend to not want to start negotiating during a tournament in case a player does well and they can get some more offers.

The players may be on holiday but the playing field is wider now was what I was trying to get at

HY on Coys

I haven't had much/any info recently. But a few things I've heard this week.

Walker probably leaving. Rumour at club is Levy has put 60m price tag on him. He will probably go for less but they paid 50 for Stones and 35 for a GK so Levy likely to dig in.

I was previously told by someone involved in youth setup that if Walker left, KWP would get more game time. I've now been told by someone else that we would likely bring in another RB but that Trippier will be first choice. As we all know the Poch gameplan asks a lot of the full-backs so we will need four first team players rotating throughout the season. KWP will definitely start to feature though.

Dier not for sale.

Wimmer may leave. He wants more game time. Sonny's best pal though so we are keen to try and keep him involved in squad. Lots of games between now and Xmas and one injury opens the door for him. Especially in a back three.

Sissoko definitely on the market. Not sure that event counts as news!

Nothing on incomings I'm afraid but this guy isn't involved in that, so unlikely to know anything. And he's not a bullshitter.

Before it gets out of hand, just a quick reminder that the abilities of players, what you think of said abilities and suchlike is for the player threads. We put them there exactly for this reason.

Thank you

I can't see Levy rejecting an offer of circa £40 million for Walker from a team on the continent. I can see him holding out for a lot more from City, if he plays ball at all.

Damn i was soo waiting for everyone to start discussing absolute rubbish again!

Good to hear regarding wimmer though! Nice that we want to keep him. At least we look to be getting a good price for walker as we all knew we would anyway

Frankly if we take that philosophy, then we should keep them and make them challenge the starting 11 or would u prefer to unload them to invest?

It's tricky situation esp we want to challenge Europe. I will give them time to prove themselves but not sure if Poch think so. So let's see how ambitious is Poch going to be... I hope it's at least last 8 and if Levy backs his KEY players acquisition.

My point is that we shouldn't be too hasty to write them off. If Poch has decided that they won't make it, then fine, sell them and get someone else in. However, if Poch wants to keep them then we should give them time and support, not just write them off.

£50M minimum to move on a player that wants to go, in a position we already have a ready-made replacement for, is fine with me.

It's a shame it would be to a rival, and we would need a replacement for when Trippier can't play, but in comparison to other big names leaving our club in the past, this would be the most painless for me.

When people say 50M is a good price as we can spend it on the squad. Can I just say the transfer fees are irrlevent generally speaking in the pool of players we are trying to buy. Eg. Lemar...we tend to compete well with fees. It's the wages that's the problem. So unless the 50M is going to wages, I don't really care how much of the 50M is going to transfers.

You do know that transfer fees received can be spent on anything we (Daniel) wants to spend it on?

Squad harmony has been one of the keys over the last two seasons so on that note hopefull news on the Wimmer front, fingers crossed he remains with the club.

I think the money needs to be higher. £65-70M. I'm sure that's what Daniel will be demanding. Getting what the going rate for an English defender was last summer isn't good enough. Or they can pay less and allow us to have Dani Alves and subsidise his wages.

This summer does indeed seem to be when transfer values have truly gone bat shit mental

After a brief chat with my friend on Tuesday the big man is hell bent on keeping the team together.I

think the understanding is that we have to keep tight books for the next few years so might have to sell one or two players but not at the expense of being competitive.

We re in a good place COYS

Really in a good place? Selling 1 or 2 players for the next few years. Similar to what I heard and ranted privately to some.

And that's why I hope we get a good price for Walker. Always been a great player for us and one of my personal favourites but arguably the easiest one in our starting XI to replace.

See, if that's the reality of our financial situation, I can live with that, but I do wish that Levy would stop wheeling out the line about "the stadium financing won't have any impact on our transfer dealings" at his meetings with the THST, because it quite clearly is. And the fiscal prudence isn't an unacceptable situation... but just stop pretending that that's not the way things are!
