It is unacceptable. It is a lie to fair.
Sorry, edited the post - I meant that the reality of our finances is what it is, and isn't the unacceptable part... but the bullshit public statements saying that the stadium isn't a factor is. We agree. (y)

After a brief chat with my friend on Tuesday the big man is hell bent on keeping the team together.I

think the understanding is that we have to keep tight books for the next few years so might have to sell one or two players but not at the expense of being competitive.

We re in a good place COYS
I bet A&C is laughing his tits off at that bold bit, btw.

Really in a good place? Selling 1 or 2 players for the next few years. Similar to what I heard and ranted privately to some.
I guess it depends on who those we sell are. Kane and Alli - then I think we would all be pretty pissed about that and that wouldn't keep us competitive. Walker and Dier - then I think, whilst not ideal, as long as our scouting is up to scratch and we can bring in replacements who can develop into players of similar quality, then we should be able to remain competitive.

It has to be short-term though because once we reap the financial benefits of the new stadium we need to be competing for those bigger name signings that will take us to the next level. As much as I prefer scouring the world for emerging talent and focusing on developing these players, if Levy thinks he can operate like this for more than we need to then he's got another thing coming because we will only be able to compete for so long.

The mentioned names, especially Alli. I wait to see what unfolds in season or so to come. I am not convinced, whilst others may be.

Reality is Walker will leave and hopefully Sissoko, which would offset a new RB, Barkley? and a pacy attacking player.

Talking beyond this season. Basing it upon we have to sell first, and will become the mandate for the 'short term'? Does not bode well.

Squad harmony has been one of the keys over the last two seasons so on that note hopefull news on the Wimmer front, fingers crossed he remains with the club.
This is one reason why I'm not extra-fussed about Walker moving on, as long as we get a good price. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about the body language when eg they come together to celebrate a goal, that suggests he's not quite as tight with the rest of the squad as the rest of them. IYKWIM.

useful info from Atlanta...Sissoko, GKN, Clint, Fazio and Walker out....Barkley (in part due to Lamela injury issues), Pau and RB in.
Still an incredibly strong group and 40-50 million in the kitty for future purchases etc.

The dance of Danny. He's probably shocked at how amazing Poch had been thus far. But Poch can't pull title fights out of his arse infinitely. I hope he recognises we cannot lose this manager by not backing him up.

Also, players aren't (that) stupid, if we don't show we want to be a big player and want to win things, they'll be off.

Huge TV money and shiney new Nike deal...

Daniel Levy said "the new stadium won't have an impact on transfers"

See now Levy is a genius. Best chairman a club could ever and will ever have. So one can't say what one is thinking or even whisper anything negative because excuses will be found by his sons. The man could literally slit the throat of a sack full of puppies, youtube it, appear on TV performing a song and dance routine celebrating it and still get the RSPCA man of the year award.

There is literally no allowable or justifiable complaint. And if it all goes massively tits, i'm wondering who is the poor sap that will carry the can because one thing is for sure. Our very own Toulouse Lautrec won't be.

Did anyone ever really believe that "stadium wouldn't impact the transfers" baloney though?

While I like the fact Spurs won't be going bankrupt anytime soon based on this news, this news also deflates me more than anything I have read so far in this window.

One day Vinny, we will be millionaires, but not this year.

No, but why say it in the first place? Better to keep schtum than peddle an outright whopper: even if we can't afford to say we need to run a really tight ship in public for strategic reasons, we shouldn't really be saying otherwise when our actions so clearly demonstrate what our limits are.

I'd imagine it has impacted our transfer policy for at least 10 years already, a lot of background work and the Stratford debacle has seen many a penny spent.

At least we're are seeing bricks n mortar now and the promised land maybe on the horizon.

Is the 'big man' Levy, Lewis or Pochettino?

I presume Levy - but is 'big' an appropriate description for him?

I always thought Atlanta Yid's connections were in the Joe Lewis ballpark rather than the Daniel Levy ballpark, so I imagine JL is the 'big man'. However, not 100% sure if my recollection of AY's contacts is correct, and I'm sure SC will correct me if he's in the Levy loop rather than the Lewis loop.

If Levy went out and got absolutely sloshed and then drove his car into a wall, the sons would say the pub shouldn't have sold him the beer and the wall shouldn't have been there.

Every club makes mistakes and we all would like to be the best all the time however,

The club is in great shape, there really isn't anything to complain about.
