Daniel Levy said "the new stadium won't have an impact on transfers"

We've been spending only based on sale money for nearly a decade, so before the stadium plans were in place.
Technically he has not therefore lied.
Transfer funds remain the same - As close to a net of £0 as possible.
Just means that if we want a quality player, who could cost £30-40 million, we're going to need to sell someone to raise that money.

Challenge to BSoDL Accepted.

It is not obvious that spending large sums of money on transfers guarantees success on the pitch.

It is obvious that since Joe Lewis bought the club and DL started to run it, we've had the best run of success since the early 1980s and the foundations for the club to enjoy continuing success have been laid in the form of a great academy, a great training centre and what we all hope will be a top class stadium.

More than that the football played over the past two years has been delightful and at times breathtaking. The current team is the best I have seen and the first Spurs game I saw was in August 1961.

Lewis and Levy are doing something right.

useful info from Atlanta...Sissoko, GKN, Clint, Fazio and Walker out....Barkley (in part due to Lamela injury issues), Pau and RB in.
Still an incredibly strong group and 40-50 million in the kitty for future purchases etc.

So downgrade at right back, trim down the squad and Ross Barkley as cover. Pretty startling lack of ambition if that's true.

People just have to have something to moan about.......... que serra:whistle:

If we'd won the league and the FA cup, supplied all 11 England players that win the World Cup and lost in the final of the CL people would still moan.

There's them that think glass half empty and those that think glass half full.

What would you think if City signed Pereira? It's a genuine question, because I'd be thinking they'd signed a very decent RB who could give Walker a run for his money at a fraction of the price.

Edit: Oops! Thought this was the Walker thread. Sorry!

Fuck my life. Technically he has not lied. I've heard it all now.

I see nothing I wouldn't expect in the defence of 'mon pere' in the face of the merest whiff of criticism :D

Fair play to you all. I shan't clog the thread up fighting such myopia, I'll take it to one of the 4,000 Levy threads in Spurs Chat when I get time

Just been told don't know how reliable we had a big offer to buy club from Chinese money....was rejected.

I assume you mean this has happened today because stuff like that gets out, very quickly. Especially as there aren't many who can throw down £3 billion all cash (which is what ENIC would demand) so there would need to be a consortium.

Selling Walker, a player who wants to leave and everyone and their mum have slated on multiple occasions, does not demonstrate a lack of ambition

What happens if Kane, dele or Eriksen get injured for a few months?

Aren't we going to try and buy a pacey wide forward who can commit and dribble past players?

Surely we're not going to go into another cl season with Janssen as the only other centre forward on our books?

Just replacing someone you've sold, and buying maybe Ross Barkley doesn't say 'we're going for the title'

You have to freshen up your first 11, no matter how well it appears to be working.

Am i right in thinking there's a legal obligation for the club to announce this sort thing as well?

Didn't happen today. Just heard today it was either a few weeks or couple of months ago.

Until the window is closed any talk of "lack of ambition" in the transfer window is purely hypothetical

People seem to forget, Ronaldo to Madrid, even the biggest lose their best.

Even them lot down the road are losing their best player Sanchez.

Shit happens, players move on.
