What happens if Kane, dele or Eriksen get injured for a few months?
What if they don't?
Aren't we going to try and buy a pacey wide forward who can commit and dribble past players?
Who say's we aren't?
Surely we're not going to go into another cl season with Janssen as the only other centre forward on our books?
Who say's we are?
Just replacing someone you've sold, and buying maybe Ross Barkley doesn't say 'we're going for the title'
We aren't going for the title, just like we weren't last season or the season before.
You have to freshen up your first 11, no matter how well it appears to be working.
Real didn't make any waves last year. Miraculously their season turned out ok...ish. That we need to make sweeping changes year upon year is a myth perpetuated by those who benefit most from it.

You base everything on the supposition, not fact. Please don't tell me that you're actually naive enough to think that Levy is going to sit around with his thumb up his arse until the last week of August and panic. It isn't a true or fair reflection of him or the club under his stewardship.

Just because we don't know what is going on, it doesn't actually mean that nothing is going on. Over the last couple of years, it is more and more apparent that we don't leak and this gets spun as inaction. That then generates greater hype about any player linked with the club which in turn generates revenue for the advertisers of the site posting the story.

If you don't think it's true, just as an experiment, anyone who has viewed a story about Spurs on a commercial website or placed a bet on a potential transfer should rate my post 'doh'.

I know I'm probably going to be dismissed as a BSoDL but I run a startup who are trying to work with the club (and many others) and so far Spurs have given no impression that they are lazy, naive or sluggish.

I'm discussing the itk we just got

In the itk thread

Novel, I grant you

Not really. This is the ITK...

atlanta yid:
After a brief chat with my friend on Tuesday the big man is hell bent on keeping the team together.I

think the understanding is that we have to keep tight books for the next few years so might have to sell one or two players but not at the expense of being competitive.

We re in a good place COYS

But you're talking about this which is just someone's opinion.....

useful info from Atlanta...Sissoko, GKN, Clint, Fazio and Walker out....Barkley (in part due to Lamela injury issues), Pau and RB in.
Still an incredibly strong group and 40-50 million in the kitty for future purchases etc.

Sorry, what? You come 3rd, then 2nd...over which 2 season period you were comfortably the best team in the country, but you don't think you're having a go for 1st place the following season? Probably time to give up entering competitions at all.

During the years that Liverpool and Utd reigned supreme, if my memory isn't playing tricks, I seem to recall they added 2 or 3 players every summer even if they had won a top trophy. In my imho, this is a sound policy and one we should adhere to. Yes, by the end of last season we were more than capable of beating anyone in the EPL. However, the top teams are actively improving their squads which won't have gone unnoticed by MP so I am confident he is beavering away ensuring we too will have improved our squad.

Exactly. Ferguson was a master at freshening up his first team, even though it was nearly perfect the season before.

Just in case anyone forgot - improving our squad does not necessarily require spending large sums in the transfer market.

If we brought everyone back - we would be stronger than we were for the whole of last season. If we sell Walker, lets see how we re-invest those funds before we complain about having "no ambition".

Quite honestly - its hard to imagine anyone having more ambition than Levy - given everything going on around the club. His ambitions are simply rooted in a practical reality - not a video game fantasy.

Selling Walker, a player who wants to leave and everyone and their mum have slated on multiple occasions, does not demonstrate a lack of ambition
Reminds me of that great scene from Hot Fuzz:
DC Andy Cartwright: Everybody and their mums is packin' round here.
Nicholas Angel: Like who?
DS Andy Cartwright: Farmers.
Nicholas Angel: Who else?
DC Andy Cartwright: Farmers' mums.

Daniel Levy said "the new stadium won't have an impact on transfers"

See now Levy is a genius. Best chairman a club could ever and will ever have. So one can't say what one is thinking or even whisper anything negative because excuses will be found by his sons. The man could literally slit the throat of a sack full of puppies, youtube it, appear on TV performing a song and dance routine celebrating it and still get the RSPCA man of the year award.

There is literally no allowable or justifiable complaint. And if it all goes massively tits, i'm wondering who is the poor sap that will carry the can because one thing is for sure. Our very own Toulouse Lautrec won't be.
Thought this the other day - Harry Hotspur is this really you?

Bentaleb sale is already confirmed since a while back. About 18 million euro

When we set that fee it seemed reasonable for us and them. In today's market we've criminally undersold him. Still 18 million euro is useful... the stadium costs won't inflate in the way that players value seems to...

TBF those 18 mil could get us Chicharito if the rumored 13 million valuation on him is correct with money to spare. Or go towards the Barkley/King purchase.

Hinsight is 20/20 obviously but I don't think everyone at the club expected Nabil to have the year he had at Schalke

Having just seen the recent itk my personal view is that we are always open to the idea of selling anyone providing the coin is there.
I suppose our policy of buying young allows at least one big name to leave every year with the hope that a youngster can fill the void until the next time.
As long as we don't destabilise the squad too much then levy will be happy with that whilst the majority of fans remain fairly happy sitting on the tails of the big boys.
I have said many times on here that even when we move into the new stadium this policy will continue to be used as it's a low risk spend with high profit return exactly what they want, if we are fortunate to win anything along the way that is a bonus.:)
