I think it's this part which is causing the biggest problem, bite the bullet earlier on Martial, Batshuayi, Lemar and the chance of the other teams turning their head is reduced, as they are still looking at targets higher up their list at that point. For example Everton just snapped up Keane, had they waited too long those currently shopping for the Van Dijks and Bonuccis of this world could end up moving on to them.

When we were averaging 6-7 signings a summer window I think Levy's approach was spot on, but now Poch has got us into such a good place where we only need 1-2 we should really be trying to make them the best 1-2 possible IMHO. Especially after the last minute panic buy last season benefited no one, time to be proactive and push the boat out to get the A-C targets that have been heavily scouted...

It's a bit more complicated than that though. The signing fee is just one part. We then have to pay wages. If someone wants £150k a week and gets it, what will the rest of the squad say? It could cost us a hell of a lot more.

Things are also complicated by the new stadium. We owe many different loans to different banks, tavistock etc... then we have money coming in from different sources at different times (still getting money for bale).

Levy is juggling at the moment.

Thought sissoko was who poch wanted? Partly because he played really well both games against us and partly because he had a good euros.

Would love it if levy would just get players in early with little messing about and think he could probably do better but do realise that he is doing what he thinks is best for the club.

It always makes me chuckle when this sorta stuff comes out. All the negative fans come creeping out of the wood work with their "I told you so's" and "that little bald prick is scewing us AGAIN" rhetoric.

I appreciate any and all ITK information but the reality is that NONE of it should ever be taken as gospel. It's passed on in good faith and that's great but let's face it, this latest bleat from the Goat could quite easily be someone that has an anti-Levy agenda. Not saying that it is but we can't rule that out.

My personal view is that I love a bit of ITK because if it's nothing else, it's a bit of fun and nothing else. It doesn't ever guarantee anything and just as much of it has been wrong in the past as it has been right.

So let's give all the doom mongering a rest. We're in a great position, we're not gonna start blowing up the squad or losing our manager and there will be signings soon enough.

I don't think Levy is evil, I DO believe he loves the club. His off the field work has been exceptional (training ground, academy, stadium). I do however think he is a regular hindrance to our transfer dealings, in that he takes too many risks to make the perfect deal. I appreciate we have financial constraints but I fully believe he operates well within them more often than not.

It wasn't the price, it was the payment structure that Peace wouldn't agree to. Levy is the ultimate 2p a week for the next million years merchant.

Peace basically wanted to 'beat' Levy. Well done to him, he 'won', to the detriment of his club and the player.

If Barkley ain't signed by September 1st, we'll all know what's next...The Argie exodus.

I find the last paragraph of Goat's info hard to believe. Especially concerning Beharino - we saw with subsequent straight cash bids from other clubs that Pearce was just being bloody-minded and didn't want to sell. Nothing to do with Levy moving the goal posts in that instance.

I agree, I'm not his number 1 fan but I can recognise that he's done a HUGE amount of good for this club.

He's made mistakes and he's done some incredible deals too (VDV, Wanyama, Toby and many others were bargains). I've no doubt we could have signed some top players over the years which he may have messed up but equally we can't be doing too badly considering our consecutive top 3 finishes.

The point I was really trying to make is that ITK is ITK. It should be viewed as nothing more than "this might be what is going to happen.......but it might not". As I say, plenty of it has been wrong down the years so I've no reason to believe that this latest piece is 100% accurate.

Poch is going to leave sooner or later, that's what managers do. Why is that so shocking to everyone?

Er, there's a world of difference between getting an offer he can't refuse from an uber club and another Spurs style souring of relationship between manager and chairman.

My Sissoko point was that had he most likely could have got an earlier target, even the superior Newcastle target Wijnaldum earlier in the window for similar fee and wages. Sissoko is reportedly one of our top earners!

I know he is doing what he thinks is best, and he knows the constraints more, but I do fully believe he is too risk averse on transfer deals. The problem with that is the more gambles we take with lesser targets right now, the more we risk what we have built on the pitch.

Too many things in the latest ITK from the Goat seems a bit left field considering other ITK’s take on things – I think I’ll choose to ignore this for now, no need for a meltdown just yet.
This same sort of stuff has been spelled out repeatedly by other bits of information.

Christ. How old are you?

You're the poster formerly known as JamieDaCosta aren't you? Or you're related and it runs in the family.

mate it's a Spurs forum not a work meeting, understand the difference. Have a laugh, share your opinion but don't take yourself too seriously.

Jj would poo poo it if it wasn't true

No he wouldn't. He's fed-up having to confirm or deny every bit of info about us.

Did you read ANY of what The Goat posted? Of course a deal was agreed. Then last minute-itus stepped in. Fuck my old boots, some people are so far into the great Egyptian river they'd need the cast of Baywatch to pull them out :D

Willian signed for Chelsea four years ago. Has it ever been mentioned on here before that we missed out on him because Levy pulled a fast one at the last minute?

Source is clearly pissed off at Levy, so that needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

The information is nothing new and nothing shocking. The question is just how pissed off/frustrated people, enough to quit? Has the source spoken to Poch about this or is he just speculating on the extent of his annoyance? I'm not actually that worried about it. Not meltdown worthy tbh.

Obviously if the Goat's ITK is true then it's all very worrying, but it does make me laugh how quick people are to come out and lambast Levy left, right and centre, whereas other ITK will always be treated with skepticism (particularly if it suggests Levy has done something right).

Personally it wouldn't surprise me if Levy was still messing around with fees etc, and I can see why Poch would get annoyed with that, but I'm prepared to give Levy the benefit of the doubt at this stage.

Where we are now compared to where we were when he took over is astonishing really, so I'm not going to get the pitchfork out just yet.

So let me get this straight, the reason why any protracted incoming transfer falls through is solely down to Daniel Levy? No other mitigating circumstances whatsoever?

Ok....
