Surely it's just going to be Lopez? I can't think of anyone else it could be if it's not Barkley.

We are doing things differently this year. There's a high level of cloak and dagger in the way Arsenal used to be. I'd be surprised if the media over here has even mentioned the players we might be after.

Max Mayer would be my guess

But Meyer's been linked with us lots of times.

Either that or we know our targets, and we just don't want to pay the going rate to sign them.

EDITED: 11 players not 12!

Who in the World, that we can afford, could improve that?

It's true what one of the newsnow lot said this week, we are in a totally different game to everyone else, we're trying to improve our bench, not our starting XI, and even if Walker does leave we already have his replacement in Trippier, albeit with less pace. The key for us is keeping the core of our squad happy. Other teams have seen an opportunity with our stadium build and general inability to improve our first team and may have taken it, although it is too early to tell if that's the case.

Was always going to be difficult. Even more so with the transfer market being a terrifying mix of fraud and outright madness.

Meyer was last scouting teams target. Really doubt if new team are interested in him as well . There's no interest for him from other top clubs. We would have already bought him, had we had real interest.

I'd just be happy with being allowed to play with 12 men.

100% agree (other than the fact you have picked a 12 player team). To upgrade on those would take huge huge finances, both in terms of fees and wages. Who would you buy to replace Toby & Jan? Rose? Dembele? Eriksen & Alli? Kane?
What we can do, and need to do, is upgrade the players who step in when any of that first XI aren't available. We don't have a like for like replacement for Wanyama without juggling Dier around, is Foyth the player to free Dier up? Is Wimmer trusted to step straight in for Jan. Winks has started being trusted to replace Dembele, and I expect to see more of Onomah this season. If Walker goes, we have been strongly linked with Pereira, who is quite comfortable as LWB also, may allow Davies to cover both LB and LCB, with Walker-Peters sliding into RWB cover when needed, it's that kind of versatility and fluidity that Poch reportedly likes. Barkley replacing Sissoko would give greater confidence when resting/replacing Eriksen or Alli. Is Janssen going to be better this coming season at stepping in for Kane, as Son was in his second season, or is there a need to look for an alternative forward.

I don't think we need to be looking at big money overhauls, as Arsenal, City, Utd and Everton are, just a couple of clever alterations will tighten up what we do. Defence and attack had the best records last year, but out points total was second best as we struggled with a plan b in some games. Fine tuning gives us plan b, rather the rewrite plan a with a big money overhaul. I'm confident based on the ITK we've had that the club are replaced about what we are doing this summer.

Sue for breach of contract, damages, the works.

A contract exists as soon as the parties agree it does. The written contract is simply post-fact evidence.

If one party then refuses to honour that agreement without legally solid reason before the document is signed, they are in breach and can be sued.

Are you a lawyer? I am and that is not entirely true. Its a bit more complicated than that.

It's not dodgy press info is it? It is widely known they are in for Alex Sandro, bakayoko and rudiger has had a medical, you got your head in the clouds?

And we we are in for 'everyone' including Bale... No, it's not dodgy press...

No, but I have decades of experience of negotiating multi-million pound deals ( and some smaller ones!) across various industries and working with lawyers around the world at all stages of all sorts of transactions. It's what I do. Or did until a few years back when I stopped so I could concentrate on voluntary work.

And the point is, yes, it is much more complicated than it appears, which I've tried to explain in a longish series of posts of which the one you quote is just a part.

If it were as simple as in that example, anyone failing to honour a handshake-deal ( in the way Levy has been accused of doing) would be in breach and could be sued. So I asked why hasn't he been sued, to emphasise that point. But since transfers are complex they require complex documentation to reflect all the elements of the deal, between the clubs and between clubs and players and any other interested parties. And most importantly in this context, the drafting of the terms of the contract(s) is all part of the negotiation process.

I am very sceptical about the unsubstantiated hearsay claims that Levy deals dishonestly and I've gone to some lengths to try to explain why. But it's spread over a number of different posts (and numerous PMs) which are boring enough individually, like this one. Imagine how bad it would be if I put them all together!

i think it is probable that they agree on the price first, and then start the negotiation of payment structure, terms and conditions etc.

Our first signing will probably be Pau and I for one will be happy that we get a guy that seems hand chosen by Poch
