Things were nearly done yesterday, big progress and then Levy literally moved the goalposts a couple of hours ago demanding a lot, lot more.

Daniel must have whipped the goalposts out at the old WHL and installed them in his room at Levy Towers so he can literally move the goalposts whenever he wants, without having to move too far from his fax machine...

If you were Poch you'd definitely be thinking the same wouldn't you?

Here's another thought. Some players are irreplaceable (Kane, Alderweireld, etc), Poch has probably looked at that and thought "Walker is excellent but he still has his weaknesses and I can get a replacement in and work with that, no problems". Perhaps I am being a little naive but I don't think he feel the same if it was Kane or Alderweireld - perhaps Dier too.

If there is one position to trust Poch on, it's fullback. Shaw, Clyne, Bertrand, Davies, Trippier, Walker, and Rose. That's an insane list of players he has developed.

Wow. Never thought of it like that. Can we also add holding midfielder, striker, and AM/FW?

I'd expect some incoming transfer news leaked by the club in tonight's papers. Club will be aware fans want some incomings after Walker.

I reckon any main incoming deals are already agreed. Levy would not let any selling clubs know we were 50m richer before doing the deals!
So I'm hoping for a few incomings soon to be announced

Bertrand arrived at Southampton after Poch - but good point all the same

I'd be surprised if the Barkley fee has been agreed. Only 24hrs ago JJ said he was still too expensive and I reckon a lot will depend on their pursuit of Sig.

I'm just guessing, but I reckon the Walker sale will see us make an official bid, which will be turned down and thus start the ball rolling in negotiations proper........

...... which means we'll most likely reach agreement on Aug 31st :D.

If that was the case, why not announce them before the sale of a player?

Or when he paces down the wing in a great counter attack leaving the opposition team exposed....... only to stop and pass backwards/inside and absolutely kill the counter attack, letting opposition to catch back up.... or to hit the first defender that side with his cross or cross it out the other side for a throw in/goal kick

That is Walker in a nutshell

Ironic that those forever applauding Danny for moving goalposts don't have any idea that there are other clever people out there who, guess what, do it to him. Fergie said he was different, but anyone can be different.

Perhaps this helps explain when, a key outgoing is announced, it seems we neither have a replacement in the bag nor have managed to hide the fact we have a wedge burning a hole in our pocket.

Ten days of training gone, still all that matters is what some people think after the window has shut. Riiiiight.

Oh, the plan all along was for Poch to develop KWP, and ENIC bite another chunk of risk off the new stadium project.

Ten days of training gone? Today was the first time they even went out and kicked a ball.

Back in Februry Walker stated that Poch had made a few 'tweaks' in training that allowed the players to recover faster and that this 'perfect' Spurs side had the right manager to finish the season strongly . He also indicated that he was in good condition to play two games per week.

Reading between the lines I can imagine that these comments which appeared in the Mirror and elsewhere may have irritated Poch for a couple of reasons. Firstly discussion of our training sessions in public might have rubbed him up the wrong way, secondly he might have read that as a hint from Walker that he did not want to share his role.

Whichever way you look at it Poch had some doubts about Walkers recovery powers,, and he is the one who is in the best place to know .

If playing for City is what he wants then good luck to him. It's a shame he and Poch don't get on but you can't always get on with everyone in life so I hope he does well and enjoys his new club. £50 million ain't bad for a smelly, headless chicken who'll probably get confused about which side he's on and score a few more for us!

That's a revelation. I didn't think they did anything apart from run up hills for a few weeks. If Levy hasn't got it all covered, Poch has...

It's not like we just signed Walker last year or even the year before. In our current squad he is one of the longest serving senior players. It's not like he's suddenly signed then wanting to jump ship a year later. If he wants to go, then let him. Especially for £55m. Trippier is a more than capable replacement. KWP is u20 world cup winner with tons of potential. Also supposed to be bringing in anothet RB.

If Walker is the only 'big' player to leave then I'm fine with it.

Can't help but think some posters have got some sour grapes about this. He's been fantastic for us for the last 2 years at very least, in addition to his first proper season with us. Yet now he's being sold its like he couldn't tie his laces together. He's a very good player and he'll leave a big gap that needs filling. Let's just hope the boys at the top have an adequate plan.

It's the same theory as arsenal fans. They have been saying he's shit for years but now he's going, we are a club on the slide and our best players are leaving

No. I care about actually strengthening and showing ambition. But we dont. We weaken instead.

How many games did we lose when Trippier started?

All this "we are strengthening a rival", with the best right back in the league. 1 season he has made the team of the year, and at the age of 27. Yes he has great recovery speed, but most of the time he recovered, we had to defend a free kick, or the ref made a wrong call. How many times was he our man of match? How often did his last ditch tackle win us a match?

I remember a cross that gained us a point, but never a standout performance that won us a game. If I'm wrong please either PM me or tag the answer in the Walker thread.

He is a very frustrating player, so many times he got into a dangerous area and failed to produce anything threatening
