Well we hear different things on KWP. One minute he's going to be first choice back-up, and then next minute he's only hanging around until we bring someone in and then he can go on loan...so it remains to be what we actually do with him. I'd very much like to see him given at least until January to show he can cut it as a squad player but its not my decision.
No way he's going out on loan. Poch was even quoted at the tail end of last season saying he'd be more involved this season.

Where/when was there any suggestion of him going on loan?

I'd be astonished and concerned if Edwards didn't go on the tour. It would not bode well. We can also expect KWP to go & I'm assuming CCV.

I'm pretty sure that technically the club can't take Edwards (or play him) as he is supposed to have 21 days rest after playing in the U19 Euros. I suppose he could still be taken but would be pointless if he can't play other than to make a point, but with the contract unsigned the club seem to veering the other way right now anyway and trying to make a different point.

I think it might have been one of the ITKs who said, when we sold Walker, that the plan had been to send KWP out on loan but instead have kept him around at least until we have a replacement. Don't quote me on that though.

That would not bode well for KWPs future at Spurs. I have not seen that ITK, but given Poch's views on loans, I hope KWP stays around the 1st team.

Is that a "rule"? 21 days? Or, since the U19 tournament was later in the summer, did Edwards get his 21 days after the season, and prior to the tournament?

It's something I was told directly in relation to Edwards (i.e. Edwards had been informed that this was the case before he went away with England). Now whether that was the club just playing hard ball (i.e. they could have chosen to still take him even if technically he couldn't play) because of the contract impasse, and using that, I have no idea, or even if it's true, but if it is a rule, then I would imagine it has to be applied post tournament, not before.

Did Onomah and KWP get 21 days?

Edwards could have got his before. I think he'll be there.

not sure about this rule bus as last year kwp and onomah played in a u19 semi final on the 21st and then they were playing for spurs in melbourne on the 26th.

I knew absolutely nothing about this "rule" until it was mentioned to me in relation to Edwards this summer. I've not checked it out, so will be guided by you guys. It could be a rule that isn't strictly adhered to, i.e. friendly games might not count ?? It could just be that the club are playing hard ball and using this rule to hide behind ?? I have no idea.

yep, even more so if he's not in tomorrow's traveling squad. i know some will say he's just being rested but he didn't exactly have the most arduous of tournaments with england, he only played the equivalent of about one and a half games.

Have to be a bit worried really, year left on his current contract, one of the most naturally talented attacking creative players Spurs (or England) have produced in recent years (or longer back potentially).

I'm also torn about the Jadon Sancho situation. If he's decided to leave Manchester for London because he's homesick and doesn't feel he has a realistic chance of breaking through at City, then there's nothing they can do to stop him leaving because he hasn't signed a pro contract yet. It's analogous to us and Nya Kirby.

Given his talent, we should be competing for Sancho's signature and, earlier in this thread, it was suggested that we explored securing him as part of the Walker deal.

But if we were to succeed in signing Sancho, it would completely break our Academy salary structure as he has apparently already been offered the most lucrative contract ever for a 17-year-old footballer. The best talents coming through our Academy - Onomah, CCV, KWP, and Marcus Edwards - would clearly take notice.

So far, by all accounts, Levy has held the line on Academy contracts and we haven't offered the stupid money that Chavski, manure, City and the goons offer. But if we were to sign Sancho, all bets would be off.

You say this, and I'm respect your opinion a lot but why didn't he start for England if he's as talented as people say he is.

Is he not as good as we think or is the coaching philosophy of England not to trust individual talent?

Its a tricky one. He is a massively talented attacking midfielder but he is not, yet, up to scratch as a part of a defensive unit and that, understandably, bothers coaches. Even the likes of Messi are expected to join the press and cover his team mates when necessary. His attacking talent is beyond dispute.

There were suggestions from Spurs fans that the England set up is Chelsea-centric because the coach was formerly from there. Although I heard the commentator on one of the games say he'd heard the reason he was not starting was the coaches felt his movement off the ball was not as strong as some of the other players selected.

I think the other thing we need to be mindful of is not being seen to be trying to poach. Hopefully this (Sancho) was all very above board, but the last thing we want is for attitudes to youth "poaching" to soften further because we will start hemorrhaging talent.
