if we going for him it'll be two hours before the window shuts...but its very unlikely we will

That is probably Levy's MO, and it may play out like that.

But we all know that Poch will want any new players in as soon as possible to have a proper Spurs pre-season and start adapting to Poch's demands.

If Everton have dropped the price on Barkley and get their new AM (Viera) in within a few days, then it's in their interests to shift a sulking player out. As we know, the old "groin strain" ruse is being used to keep Barkley out of their tour.

There may be a deal to be done, and we shall see if Levy goes early this year after last summer's £30m Sissoko deadline day fiasco.

Or start making sneaky moves like we're signing Viera and tell Everton we'll back off if they like? Or that may lower the 10% chance we'll get Barkley hhmm I'll shut up.

You'd think if we were going for King it would be sooner rather than later. Surely Bournemouth are hardly going to want one of their key players out after the season starts...

Do Bournemouth play two up top? As I can see Defoe starting up front ahead of King the majority of times.

But one of our ITKs has just said in this thread that we are moving for him and it's getting closer.

Sometimes, but King can play in quite a few positions which is probably one of the reasons we're looking at him.

Thanks for the info @igijedi

I'm sure the negative posts aren't aimed at you, once again SC doing the equivalent of getting a text from the Mrs saying 'I've got a surprise for you later', immediately expecting a cheeky blowie but in reality she's actually just popped in the chip shop on the way home...

If your Mrs looks anything like mine, I'd rather she'd just stopped at the chip shop !

Posted it in the King thread but I'll stick it in here too so it's here for people's reference rather than discussion:

I really don't think we are going to do much business this summer. It's very quiet.
Well. I'm more than happy with the majority of the squad but we certainly need improvements in a couple of areas (better alternatives to Sissoko, something a bit different in AM) so I'd be a little disappointed if that's the case. If this is the case then we do seem to be showing a lack of ambition.

I'm happy to give the kids chances and to improve the salaries of our core group but we definitely need a couple of new players to keep us ahead of those chasing and catch the likes of Chelsea.

We only need about 3 players, so it's probably not an issue to be fair. It's quite clear there are wheels in motion, so I wouldn't panic.

Quite an odd decision if true. We obviously were not good enough for the league last season but at the same time we were not far off, one or two new additions should see us even closer.
Worst case scenario - we buy no one to freshen things up and fall out the top 4.

Best scenario - team needs no gelling and we carry on from where we left off and finish top or second again.
