I'd imagine more people are likely to watch it too when there's no other football on. Could generate a whole new viewer base.

Erm. It's gonna be very hot isn't it?

I think the Qatar World Cup shows that not one fuck is given to such considerations by the football authorities.

But temperatures aside, this is a sensible move and as others have said will hopefully generate a bigger market for the competition, whilst also meaning the players won't be dragged out of their domestic leagues every time the tournament comes around.

Wasn't the ACN a reason we didn't go after Zaha? Or am I just believing everything I hear on the FC pod?

It does make sense given how many players play their trade in Europe etc, but I was always a little uneasy about calls for it to be moved to suit the clubs. The competition is older than the European Championships and has always taken place between January-late March ( well, 90% of the time )

It's probably best for all involved though for reasons already covered!

This is football we are talking about. What is best for the ordinary fans and those clubs outside of the top 20 richest clubs in Europe is rarely considered. This was moved (and probably without consultation) because those rich clubs who can afford the best in the world are making sure they don't lose them for 4 weeks in the New Year.

My experience is, that the dozen or so top clubs who are always sharing the top prizes and world's players
because the playing field is tilted in their favour, are ensuring their dominance cannot be challenged.
