Everton seem to have gone up to 43 million + 5 million in addons for Sigurdsson. Can't be long now...

Where's that come from? I can still feel the Barkley deal will drag until deadline day as Levy will want to save as much money as possible.

This will be a financial gamble with regards to waiting till deadline day and see if Everton come down with their asking price.

Also their is a gamble with regards to any other club coming for him too. I believe if another club comes in for him before deadline day then levy will definitely match the price.

Barkley will not improve our first if every one is fit, however he is definitely going to improve our squad and will provide adequate replacement if we are to rotate due to various competition we will be involved in. As such there will be no rush with this transfer even if Everton buys Siggy now.

Ps: i can bet my bottom dollar every thing i mentioned above has been already said, hey i want to add to the thread too.

Oh good, I see the spam from the ITK thread has moved into here. I was worried I wouldn't be able to read about net spend anywhere

Just can't see the Arsenal link. They already have a bunch of British players with unfulfilled potential they either can't shift due to overpaying them or are still failing to nail a place in their first team (Walcott, Ox, Ramsey, Wilshere all rated as highly, if not higher than Barkley was breaking through). They are not particularly short in attacking areas either, partly because of the above.

Strikes me as a bit of a negotiation tactic.

Have to say I'm impressed how Barkley has kept his counsel during this window. No whispers to the press, very respectful to his club. He must be incredibly frustrated, obviously desperate to leave but there no sign of a deal being imminent.
Agree, great indication of character.

I don't think there is anyway Barkley or any player at 40 or 50 mil will be coming to Spurs any time soon. Levy would not contemplate paying that kind of money. He likes to Sell high and buy low. Great philosophy if you work in the city but not for a football club that has aspirations of winning trophies unless you are a club like Burnley who need to operate that way to survive. Then of course there is the wages that go with top players, another stumbling block for us. We recently lost out to the young Brazil player because we wouldn't pay 9 mil upfront. I don't think that makes us smart but short sighted.

I think we will struggle this season with the number of games we will have to play as the squad we have, although good, it's a long way short of quality in depth. That'swhy the top clubs have all bought big. Barclay if he goes will probably end up at Utd as they are prepared to pay whatever it takes and pay the wages.
Again if we buy anybody and that looks more unlikely if you hear what Poch is saying, it will be another player in the price range that Jansen was last year and we know how that worked out, or didn't.
So I think we can forget Barclay who I believe would be a great addition to our squad with his prem experience and just hope we have a good season with what we have which is after all a talented squad. But is it strong enough to compete with a new City, Utd, L'Pool and an even stronger Chelsea. I doubt it.
I'm sure I'll get a lot of WTF and disagrees. But if you think about it's true.

1. It's Barkley.
2. Price does not equal success, see Dele Ali for that.
3. Levy's philosophy has seen us finish top six 10 out of the last 12 seasons. Pre- Levy we had never done this in the premier league.

Under bald head only one trophy in 17 years

We used to win much more than that

It's staggering that the Real Madrid Chelsea Manure Arsenal.. Champions league premier league FA cup Europa League and League cup winners are all strengthening while trophy cabinet full of moths Spurs are sitting on their bums waiting for the market to crash

So you'd rather we were a rubbish team that finished 12-15th each season with a trophy every 10 years, than the current title contenders, Champs league team, top scorers we are now?

Bald head?? Are you six?

The trophies will come, until then I'll enjoy going into the final few games with the results still mattering.

Who do you think we should have signed that our rivals have signed to improve our first team? Because at those prices, on those wages, they better fucking waltz into our first team and dramatically improve us.
