Hope we have an alternative target with the same profile. Pacy bloke with the intelligence to use said pace to move into dangerous positions and be a genuine goal threat. The alternative best not be another player in the Nkoudou mould with pace to burn, but not able to use it for other things than running in a straight line.

Couldn't make it up could you and its been on for months!!
I may just sit back now. I did this once before with Moutinho with the same end result FFS
As someone who logs into this forum quite often to catch up if you have passed on any info in good faith, don't sit back, it's now the nature of the beast. Spurs aimed high and it's not come off that's all.

I'd be dissapointed if you stopped passing on the info as would many others.

Just my two onions worth on this one.

I don't really get how people can back the club when we've signed no one, sold a first choice player and not tied Toby to a new contract.

The window is still open - I can assure you that if we still have not signed anybody by the time it ends I will join you in having the most ridiculously over the top meltdown of epic proportions that may cause me to enter the street and get arrested IN REAL LIFE.

THFC just take far too long to wrap up transfers. On for months where others wrap up in weeks. So frustrating. We're rather pathetic

This is unbelievable, a player scouted for a year and been in touch with since Jan has fallen yet again at the last hurdle. We have now missed out on a primary target. Lots of work to do, we still want 3 but this is a big blow!

I wonder whether the last hurdle was anything to do with financials...Or just a preference of another team over Spurs...

Anything I`ve read about this guy has always pointed to Juventus wanting him and him wanting Juventus...

Shit happens JJ, I'd rather have insight into what's happening and not happening than hear nothing at all! Hope we are ready and moving on to plan B etc

I'm obviously incredibly niave and/or ignorant about the situation, but how can a transfer go from close, to dead in a matter of hours?

If the player was interested and then changed his mind, it couldn't have been that close, and if the issue was cost then there's always a bit of negotiation unless the goalposts are changed dramatically.

Just another player missed out on and we can look forward to the ligue 1 bargain bin once again...

Such a shame but it does emphasise just how bloody difficult it is to get a high profile player in - so many factors that could change at any second to screw it up.

Agreed. I know people have been saying that there's a prem option that was backup to this deal and that it may be Josh King but they don't seem like similar players to me.

Was it ever confirmed that King was that backup or could it be someone else?

BTW @JJetset it doesn't sound like it's anything to do with you. If the club haven't sealed the deal despite having months then it's NOT your cock up. I'm sure we all appreciate the info nonetheless

It could easily have been very close but perhaps another club came knocking at the last moment and that was it. At the end of the day it is always down to the player.

Juve obviously firmed up their interest, drawing a blank against us at Wembley was probably the final straw :banghead:
