Oh my fudge. Close this embarrassing thread and stick only to "The race for top 4 and maybe a trophy", which is exactly the very best we can be close to even dreaming about.

Not sure why.

You might think (as I do) that a title bid is unlikely, but it was in the last two seasons as well and we were still pretty close on both occasions.

To say it's embarrassing is...well it's embarrassing.

Come on. I said the same thing a year ago when the "race for the title Im so sure Tottenham will win this year" thread popped up. People were so angry that I dared to utter that we were not in the race. It's highly understandable to expect us to do well, very well indeed. To go on and on about some perceived title race that we are supposedly in the middle of is at best highly interesting. There was never a race last season, and there was never a race the season before. Last season we were best of the rest. That's it. There is, as you know, no trophy for that. The season before, we didn't even manage to hold on to 2nd when all other big clubs failed to various degrees. We have a mentally frail team when it really comes down to it, able at being so very very good, just simply not good enough.

This is such a load of horseshit I think it's best to leave it alone completely :D

Please, I urge you to go on in your delusion.

You mean the delusion where I said I didn't think we would be in the title race only one post before yours?

Come on my friend if you're going to say things like that at least try and read the relevant posts.

Just to be clear...for you....

1. I don't think we'll be in the title race this year.
2. I do think it's something that is worth discussing based on the fact we've come 3rd and 2nd in the last two seasons.

Sheesh.

I'm back after 2 or 3 months of having forgotten my password and the email i used to register it with, back to a large dose of doom and gloom it appears.

I'm mighty looking forward to this season, we have kane and eriksen who are marching into their prime, im predicting them to have amazing seasons.

It's so easy to wax lyrical abiout the team we've got nevermind missed targets, abd moreover the way they are being turned into world footballs prime real estate by poch and staffs training regimes

Its so hard to predict though the wembley effect, and precedents don't bode well. So id hope for champions league qualification with a domestic trophy, and keep this team happy and together until at least the second season in the new stadium, shame we had to hit more transitional periods just as we hit real title winning strides

Forgetting about us which of the big hitters drop points this weekend if any?

I reckon Watford beat Scouse and think a point for Leicester is a possibility.

Walker leaving has weakened us but he is replaceable.

Would love an alonso/carrick for cm. Maybe poch thinks barkley could fill that role.

We have our youngsters coming through and tbh none that have come through have let us down. Even the likes of townsend could do a job.

Expect more from janssen this season and hopefully we get rose and lamela back to full

Will wait till the end of the transsfer window to make a prediction. Hopefully we get 1 or 2 quality additions to push us on.

I take it you mean cl qualification and a domestic trophy?

I'd be well pleased with that.

Expecting kinda of a down year, tbh. We'll be lucky to get 4th. IF we can get 4th thereby retaining CL qualification for 18/19(big if, IMO), and Levy actually shows some intent(massively unrealistic ask), we could challenge again for the title in 18/19 for the first season in the new stadium. Wont do so this season in Wembley. Just not realistic. Wont retain our WHL home form and i dont see us making up so much lost ground on the road, though I could see it being alittle better this season

You said the same the last 2 seasons.

The thing we've had to contend with over the last two seasons is being the chasers of teams that have put strong runs together early in the season and then led from the front.

I'd love to see how we'd manage if it were us that were the front runners going I to the the last 2/3 months of a season.

It's going to be an interesting year. The last two seasons the title winners took full advantage of no European football.

This season the expected top 6 are all in Europe. I don't see another Leicester situation occurring.

Winning the league is about fine margins. I think playing at Wembley is our margin and will cost us a title shot.

But we have a strong, together side and can be a threat.

I think City will win it.

I love it how the people that moan that we can't possibly challenge still moan at the end of the season when we miss out.

From december onwards last season we were the best team in the league. With one or two quality additions we should be challenging again. We might miss out but we'll be in the mix. Might need a little luck regarding injuries but who doen't?

What I don't get is we won 12 out of our last 13 league games and we actually have Spurs fans believing we are mentally frail.

Why are people making playing at Wembley such an issue? I must be the only one who believes that we will do well there. Its not like we will be playing on the Hackney Marshes for our home games. I honestly dont believe its much of an issue but it seems alot have bought into the media rhetoric

Because pretty much every team who has ever changed stadium has struggled with home form in the first season.

We won't do terribly there but can't see us matching last season's results at Wembley.

Our record there isn't great in the last decade or so. 7 fa cup semi's lost, lost 2 out of 3 league cup finals and our cl games last year weren't the best.

For me it isn't about it being Wembley, it is about us being at a different stadium to our usual.

There won't be a Park Lane end with all the atmosphere and away team will see the game as a novelty. If we'd gone to Milton Keynes Dons stadium for a year I'd still be fearing for our home form.

I know this but factor in that we will now be playing there at least every two weeks will give us the familiarity edge over our visiting opponents. I am confident that I will be proved to be the correct! ;)
