You can't disagree with his sentiments. Always appreciate Danny's honesty. Voicing them to The Sun is another thing, mind.

So I'm presuming, in Mourinho stylee, Utd will propose Shaw as part of this? To get a jump on other teams like Chelsea like they did with Everton and Rooney?

Poch loves him, Jose doesn't. On £70k a week apparently so within budget. If he can get his career going again he is a pretty great replacement and needs us to restart his career, whereas Rose has been discontented for a while. We're far too close to the season to not have a ready-made replacement…

Reeks of a deal. Interesting to see the valuations.

Until he gets fit i dont care what he thinks about anything and for what its worth, he comes across as particularly dim in interviews so i wish hed just keep his mouth shut as nothing good comes from his little monologues.

Get rid, with the money sign Sessegnon as backup or even potential 1st team.

In the original interview from The Sun, he says 'I'm not looking to leave Tottenham, but if something concrete (offer) came up'. Nothing here, then.

Unless he now performs a remarkable U-turn he's effectively ended his Spurs career, let's face it. This is a monumental slap in the face for the supporters, sure, but also the club as it potentially puts them in a weaker position in terms of selling him - unless we can convince potential suitors we will replace him now and are willing to let him sit as 3rd choice LB for the next 4-years.

Forget about the individual player. The key concern here is whether this issue is having - or could have - a disruptive effect on the team as a whole. Is Rose just openly saying what others on the team are thinking? Without doubt, the club has been very clever in being able to impose a 'relatively' low salary cap compared to our key competitors (I assume we all judge our 'key competitors' as the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Man. Utd., etc. - rather than Everton, West Ham and Southampton!).

And before lambasting Rose, you should ask yourself whether you would be content working for an employer who is paying you about 50% of what you know you could get elsewhere... Regardless of whether or not you signed a contract, would you still be willing to give absolutely 100% commitment to that employer?

While I think that footballers in general are overpaid, that's not going to change the reality of the situation. So as fans, we have to ask ourselves whether we think it’s right that the club should prioritise profit for ENIC over trophies and rewarding improving players with better contracts? Obviously we don't want to "do a Leeds" but it seems that with the increased revenue generated by TV deals, etc. that there is room for more balance...

In that case, don't sign the contract, if you know you're worth more then there's nothing stopping you from signing up and seeking out other suitors.

If we could get 40 million plus Shaw from Utd, then personally I think we would be coming out as the winning party.

Shaw was the best left back in the Premier League under Poch, all at the tender age of 19. I would have full confidence that when working under Poch again, Shaw will once again be the best left back in the league and will end up taking Rose's place back in the England team as well.

What a load of crap !
He had one good season at Southampton and Utd ,like they do,
spent crazy money to buy.

I've lost all confidence in Rose - is he even injured? Wouldn't surprise me if there has been a stand off for some time.
He is quite repulsive, but if we knew the full story on all the premiership players, I dare say the stadiums would be empty. But the others mostly have the good sense to keep their mouths shut.

I do the same thing when someone leaves my company, he's obviously looked at the Walker transfer as an opportunity

I hope it's that, rather than being symptomatic of a wider squad malaise about our ambition

The timing of this interview and the content of it are not justified by Rose being paid under the market value of the premier league financial dopers and the richest club in world football. No matter what he is trying to achieve, this interview was over the top.

If it is to engineer a move, which seems likely, it is disrespectful. At least Walker kept quiet with the media, organised his move early in the transfer window and gave us time to plan for life without him. That was respectful. Poch is an honourable man. He and the rest of the Spurs squad didn't deserve this media attention on the eve of the season. Maybe Rose was told he won't be sold this summer and this was his way of getting a move. Who knows? Or maybe he wants to pursaude the board to invest. Regardless, this leaves a sour taste for Spurs fans and I suspect for Poch and the squad.

I understand Rose's points, they are generally valid for a player his age, who is at the top of the game, despite me believing under Poch and with the new stadium coming, things are looking bright for our future.

The fact is, this could have all happened behind closed doors. Opinionated or not, there are times when it's best to keep opinions to yourself. This was one of those times for Rose. Poorly advised.

Im surprised it has taken this long for a senior player to speak up about the transfer policy.

Bottom line: the club has to break its current wage structure and incrementally increase the salary of the players and managers, otherwise we will not retain the good people that have taken us to where we are.
