Surely Dier was MOTM on his debut - scored the winner against West HamProud of the lad, jokes aside I know the other lads are as well, prem debut and he gets MOTM, impressive imo.
Maybe he should tease Eric back and ask him how many MOTM awards he has? :-D.
I've just had 4 texts asking who the hell is is..the only response I gave was Google him
Can't you just tell Jose, Pep, Conte and fat Steve to #*π√ off?
I'll second that...with a caveat. Walker was first choice against any of City, Chels, Pool, Utd. Love Trips, but when good teams stretch us across the park and have pace on their flanks, Trips ain't the answer. We lose any attacking threat on that side, 'cause he's all about defence as he has to protect his relative lack of pace vis a vis a Walker, or a Walker-Peters.I've been one of the biggest critics of not having a senior right back to cover Trippier and felt aggrieved we had got into the position where we were heading into the season this way.
It's only one game but I'm more than happy to say I was wrong. There will be far tougher tests, and with those I still have serious trepidation about both our right backs, but KWP proved me wrong today.
Fair fucks to the lad, and the staff who gave him the opportunity. Great to see another young spurs lad come through.
I'm sure Danny can show him how to puff his chest out!I thought he was steady. They clearly targetted him early on and Atsu was a good test. He grew into the game and looked assured. He will need to beat his man and create that overlapping width but on an away debut it is understandable that he was cautious.
My main concern is his size. He is very small and slight and I don't see much in his frame/build to suggest that he will grow much more naturally. He will of course fill out a bit and can hit the gym to bulk up. But he will need to develop an aggressive style eg Ashley Cole/Danny Rose to compensate for his lack of physicality.
He should be understudy to Trippier for this season and the money should go where we need it more.
All in all a solid debut for the lad.
Spurs' new ground sponsors: Google.
Googleplex would sound amazing.
