If that's the kind of shit Koeman is happy to sanction, I am glad he (Koeman) is at Everton and not here with us. Mother of God. Is he trying to fucking bankrupt them?

This deal more than most represents how out of control the current transfer market has become. I never thought in my life time that any club irrespective of the cash they have, would sanction a £45m transfer for Siggy of all players

This is the window that's given us Paulinho to Barca for £35 million based on a good season in China....

It's an insane transfer fee, but they will generate around £120m for Lukaku and Barkley. Even with Siggy and all their other signings they're likely to come out of the window in the black.

But massively weakened by a load of untested in the EPL players and a has been, where are they getting 25 goals from?

Averaged 9 goals and 8 assists in the league in his last three season with a bad team. There's been way worse deals over the last few years than this one.
A lot of those set pieces. If you're paying £45m you expect more production from open play tbh. He's alright but has serious limitations physically.

I don't know? Who should they have signed to replace Lukaku? Kane, Aguero?

I forgot who said it and what station it was on in last couple of days (may have been Barton on TS last night), but they suggested Everton should have gone balls deep for Diego Costa.

I don't think he was bad for us and I would have no problem had he stayed around as Eriksen's back-up. He would have still got a fair bit of game time. But, as others have said, 40-50m is ludicrous.

Hopefully that sorts the Barkley to us transfer now.

Agreed. I would have been intrigued to see Sigurdsson play centrally in a team as well organised as Poch's with the quality of player around him like Ali, Kane, Son etc etc etc

Not dynamic enough for us mate and half the player on Eriksen

I know he's not as good as Eriksen, but it has to be remembered that he played in a turgid AVB team, crowbarred into left AM and under the tactical non entity that was Sherwood. Hardly accentuated his strengths, and it is amazing what a good manager and a well organised team, playing with consistency, can do for the form and performances of a multitude of players. I quite rated Sig, and I can see why he is worth that much to Swansea, hence the figure, but really I was only saying I would have been intrigued to see how well he could play in the current team, not that I think he is amazing, or that we should have signed him again.

Sigurdsson isn't fit to lace Eriksen's boots.

That's largely the long and the short of it.

Absolutely. Not stifled by AVB's "tactics".

Everton should be doing the same thing we started trying to do 10 or so years ago - invest in building a top academy from the ground up, target young hungry players who want to prove themselves and a personable manager to build a brand around... instead they are going after top club cast-offs, well-past-his-prime Shrek, and Gylfi Sigurdsson for 50 million f-ing pounds. I guess we'll see how it turns out but it doesn't really scream "building for long-term success" does it.

This isn't going to be news to anyone, but he wasn't with the rest of the team at Swansea's training ground when I walked past this morning.

I worry that we started this inflated transfer window last summer when we signed Sissoko for £30m. I think we officially broke the transfer window.
