I watched the Cotto card and then they went and put Eubank v Thompson on after so I had to watch it!

May-Mac? Let me guess...Floyd carried him for ten rounds then closed the show when he wanted to? Wonder what round 'money' had his hard earned riding on?:ROFLMAO:

Hearing the opposite. Not seen enough to comment myself.

McGregor did well and went longer than most thought. Mayweather was without a doubt on a different level though.

Fair play to McGregor saying the ref should have continued it and let Mayweather actually put him down though as he was just heavily fatigued and not hurt. But that's boxing. I think that's one thing that's hurt him heavily too, the lack of experience in fighting at a completely different pace and intensity, as I thought he was breathing a little heavier quite early and Mayweather's cardio looked the same at the end as it did at the start, which is incredible at his age too.

Remarkable from Mayweather too, hate him or love him, what a talent in the ring.

I just look forward to seeing McGregor back in the UFC now :)

Yeah definitely a bit of that :D

I get it and I went to school with a pro boxer (now retired) who wanted mayweather to win. But I do think there is an odd snobbery in the boxing world. I have no doubt many are purists of the sport but when I hear some of them go on about it "embarrassing the art form" etc it makes me laugh . A lot of these lads just love a punch up, grew up scrapping and attending un licenced fights etc but now it's for the art? Fuck off

Connor got hurt worse by Diaz for a lot less money. It's a triumph of marketing that anybody actually thought he had a chance against Mayweather. Nobody would give Mayweather a chance against McGregor in a MMA fight so why would anyone think Connor had a chance in a boxing match? Bizarre .

This is the first PPV I have refused to buy in about 10 years. Absolutely pointless... as I kept saying to all the bandwagon boxing fans who all of sudden became experts on how Mcgregor had a punches chance... Mayweather doesn't nothing that Mayweather won't win. He is the master of eliminating risk and this was the easiest payday of his career.

So whilst the real boxing fans look forward to the biggest fight of the year the bandwagon to go back talking shit until the next Joshua fight.

Oh absolutely. And I'm sure there is still an alpha male 'we are the baddest on the planet' persona within them and they don't want that label to be questioned or tarnished.

Well that's the gift of the gab, McGregor's big mouth truly convinced people. At least it won me some money with some stupid people at work :D

And I agree with them being different sports and all but I don't think the comparison of them going into each others fighting sports is completely black an white. McGregor still has a history in boxing and uses boxing whilst competing in the UFC, although obviously nowhere near to the same degree as a professional boxer but he has boxed. Mayweather has probably never practised any kicks, takedowns, elbows, clinches, submissions etc. in his life. McGregor still had a chance to land a somewhat lucky punch in this fight and could have won. The only thing that would have accomplished though is disguising the fact that despite such an outcome there would still be a massive gulf in quality over the two in the boxing ring. Mayweather on the other hand would not last one round in the octagon though, absolutely no chance.

There's massive amounts of snobbery in boxing! Huge amounts, which is amusing. Been guilty of it myself at times ( namely the unlicensed stuff, nearly always refuse to go and watch it, even if a pal is on the card! )

To be fair, it is an art form though. I think tonight has attracted a lot of people who like watching a punch up and thought they were in for fireworks. I just watched highlights of the May-Mac fight and Floyd was absolutely toying with him. He was smiling and smirking at people ringside. Connor's technique was awful but that's to be expected from a debuting MMA fighter!

Never ceases to amaze me when 'casuals' ( another term used by the snobs in boxing:ROFLMAO: ) are annoyed they bought a Mayweather fight. Floyd has always been about the art. Hit without getting hit, have a look, work him out, get the win.
People want windmilling, flailing arms and all that jazz, UFC's the place* ( more snobbery! )

* I've been thoroughly entertained by a fair few of the UFC fights I've seen and respect the styles, fighters etc 100% (y)
