I'm thinking maybe sign him for nearer what City want (which I guess is more than £3m) and then Fulham pay us the difference from the £3m to take him on loan for a season. I think it's more about what City get for him from the deal and any sell on fee in the future. They know he wants to go but they also want what he's truly worth (which is fair enough).

Why would Fulham pay 3m for a loan of a 17yr old who didn't play first team football yet??

Edit: I realise you mean the excess of 3m. My point stands. It will still be 1m or more for a loan of a 17yr old. That's not gonna happen

From what we have been told previously, there is no problem with Sancho cancelling his contract with City. But if he does, he cannot represent another club during (what would have been) the remaining 10 months of his scholarship unless that other club agrees compensation with City. If City are playing hard-ball on compensation, he would presumably be able to train with us, but not play competitive football for us until July next year. Not a satisfactory situation.
Based on the suggestion of a Fryers solution - maybe overseas clubs are not covered by this ruling. And, just maybe, such a club could take on Jadon's contract and then immediately loan him to us, with a purchase option set for next Summer.

No, the contract IS the hold up. That's the problem, and the reason he can't play for us if we offer him a professional contract. To be more clear, Sancho can sign a professional contract with us, but cannot play until Man C lets him go or until his scholarship contract ends.

Missed out this evening but it seems we're at the point of conflicting ITK and a desperate Arsenal and Chelsea. Just closing my eyes and crossing my fingers for the next few days now!

Not sure it would be 3m but as a replacement for the similarly aged Sessegnon who according to Hercules is so important to Fulham already that the manager would walk if they sell him. Maybe Sancho would be a good sweetener for the manager. Even at 17 he would do great for Fulham for one season and if it helps them get promoted could be worth the money.

Yeah, I realised later about the 3m thing and edited my message.

Still, I think you are mixing things. The problem will stand as Man C doesn't want to break his scholarship contract, and those movements would have nothing to do with what we did with Fryers.
I think what Hercules means is that we may need to leave Sessegnon on loan there for a season

Clearly this isn't the right thread, but as this seems to be where everyone seems to vent their anger, I'm saying it here. Levy love him or hate him, is the person who has led us to Wembley and on onwards in time to to a new state of the art stadium, he hired Poch, who in turn has led us to a 3rd and 2nd finish. From there Poch has given us a real reason to believe we can achieve things we thought weren't realistic... Seriously, hold off for a few more days before ye decide to flip the lid, have some faith which most don't want to have, and take on the info which Hercules, JJ, GF have given us and run with it, and hopefully, as Arthur Guinness once said " Good things come to the what wait"

And even Greater things come to those who don't.:cautious:

Daniel Levy holds my future mood for this season in his hands. With great power comes great responsibility. Depression or Joy, Daniel? The choice is yours.

There's been ITK in the last 10 months that A&C has deemed credible that Pochettino has been deeply annoyed this summer and last over missed transfer targets of his (off the top of my head, there have been credible reports since the summer of 2014 that Poch wanted and missed out on the following players: Schneiderlin, Musacchio, Berahino, Umtiti, Wijnaldum, Mane, Batshuayi and Zaha). If we fail to deliver the reinforcements Poch wants, and we subsequently go a little backwards this season results wise, he might just consider his options (everyone better root for PSG to win the quadruple under Emery).

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Levy seemingly understands what a catastrophe it would be for club if Pochettino was unhappy enough to want to walk at some point in the near future. That's the only thing that explains the panic buy of Sissoko last season (A&C intimated something similar last November in a thread here). Let's hope Poch uses his leverage over Levy to drag a few key signings across the line. I just can't see how we can be competitive across four competitions playing a high pressing game with only a handful of attacking players the manager genuinely trusts.

The optimistic in me says he will deliver. He got him Sissoko for god sake for a very unlike Levy deal.....or maybe I'm just stupid.

Thanks herc. Top information and very much appreciated by us lesser folk. Fingers crossed!

I really do wish people would wait until the window shuts before insisting that Poch is not being backed. The word from ITKs and even the man himself is that deals are in motion. If we get to the deadline and our window is underwhelming, only then surely can it be said that we have come up short?

That aside, I think people often forget that Poch agreed to come to the club knowing full well that part of his task was to develop players, and let's be honest, Levy's transfer approach would hardly have been a secret when he agreed to make the job. So I don't get why people automatically assume that he is not happy. Whatever the earlier ITK said about him being unhappy, that was months ago and he is still here. Plus, ITK is, so I understand it, just information passed on. The ITKer can only go by what they are given and we cannot always assume that the person/s providing them with information isn't someone with an agendas (someone in the club with a beef or grudge against Poch or Levy for instance). So let's heed the notion of "don't shoot the messenger" and wait and see.

JJ has been on twitter saying that people are talking shit when they say poch not being backed and wait 48 hours

how to define 'being backed'? levy tried to sign the players poch wanted but failed = levy backed poch? levy bought sanchez, gazza and foyth but failed the rest = levy backed poch?

it's like levy says that look, poch, i have got you sanchez, gazza and foyth...but barkley, aurier, sessegnon, keita, etc...i have tried but i just ran out of time/had no budget/teams played around and not serious/players got hijacked/denied for visa and work permit...it's not my fault..don't blame me...blame our bad destiny...
