Such a waste of a talented footballer and a club asset. Absolutely cannot wait for his return, but getting less and less optimistic about seeing it.
I am very optimistic!

Read that wrong at first...agreed that he is one of the pieces that make us tick and adds such quality depth and bite to our side. He really seemed primed last preseason to make his mark and then that injury hit. Love his style of play and how Poch has brought him along.

Can't wait for him to get back and in the golf cause that is the depth we have all been asking for.
I believe had he been available on Sunday we would have won that match against Burnley comprehensively.

What has Sissoko done wrong this season?
Not pushed harder for a transfer?

Seriously though, his lack of ball control is a hindrance to the way we are set up to play a possession-based style. He needs space to run, he would be good in a counter-attacking style team.

It's probably nothing on him, but he just isn't a £30 million player, also I just can't see what he adds to the team.
The same could be said for almost all the transfers this summer.

We've just had €105m for a forward with 6 goals all last season after 32 matches? A career total of 18 goals and 1 international goals. Who'd have thought?

This is a new world of transfer fees and wages etc. If sissoko is a £30m footballer then Lamela definitely is. Unlucky with injury but to say you can't see what he adds to the team means you have forgotten his pressing, work rate, assists such as the one for Eriksen at Man City and what was becoming an increasing goal tally before injury.

I can remember one of the games against arsenal where we dominated until he was taken off after a yellow and getting close to being sent off. After he went off we lacked aggression and failed to control the game. Easy to forget how pivotal he was to the press but he was a very effective team player in what was a very good unit.

Given his lack of game time over the last season I would probably sell him if would miss large parts of this year just to bring in an extra option, but when fit he is a vital part of this team, he just needs to stay fit!

Agree completely apart from selling him. He would need to prove fitness to do that, and if that was the case he'd be straight back in our first XI.

I think he means Sissoko.

Lamela is the sort of player you need... Great character starts the press up high assists has skills and is a constant performer his levels are favourably high all action player...if he adds a bit more goals he has imo abilities to be world class in today's standard

I don't think any of that is in doubt.

But at the moment he isn't even someone we can count as part of our squad, and we've got no idea what sort of shape he's going to come back in.

I miss him, he was proving his doubters including me wrong until that injury. Would be like a new signing having him back to full fitness.

Same could be said for rose who has been out for 8 months .

I think both will return to high levels of fitness before Christmas

True, but the fact that Lamela's injury problems seem to shift is what worries me. He keeps having setbacks and that's always a concern.

I hope we do see him at his best in a Spurs shirt again at some point. But it really isn't something I'm counting on.

I don't think he ever had a set back?
The hip problem was just never treated satisfactory.
He said he returned to training but whatever the issue was, still restricted him from giving 100%
So they went for the exploratory surgery to find an issue, they did find one then he had surgery to correct that issue and there's be no news of a relapse as of yet.

I suppose you could say he arrived to the club in the first place with somekind of back problem that kept him out half a season so it's possible it's related and he does have chronic issues but if an older heavier dembele can manage it I believe lamela should be okay .

He seems alot happier at least. Lots of training pics and videos unlike last season when it was radio darkness

Oh no, I was saying Sissoko wasn't a 30 million pound player, big Lamela fan over here! I know sometimes/ a lot of the time he wastes possession, but I think he is so important to the way we play especially with his pressing! Think we may have got our lines crossed!

Couldn't handle any more of the TR forum so came to this one for some sanity. I hope Lamela can come back all guns blazing, a rejuvenated Lamela would be a huge asset to our attack.

If you're talking about Lamela, there's no point in us selling him now. Off the back of a year long injury we're only going to get peanuts for him. If you want to sell him (which personally I don't) then it makes no sense to sell him now. Better to wait until January or next summer when he's proven his fitness so that we can at least get a fair price for him.

If you read what I said, the only reason I would part with him is because he's injured and we if we could of got someone fit it would have helped us now.

I agree we will not get much for him at the moment so it is a double edged sword. Let's hope for a quick recovery on all fronts!
