Just can't get excited about this given his history. Maybe I'm just too sensitive and, perhaps, he's seen the error of his ways but he's show zero contrition (aside from the forced apology).

He may be just what we need and £25m, in this market, might be a bargain but I just can't shake this dirty feeling

Until I see something a little more official from Spurs etc then I'm not fully loaded and ready to go....

Percentages :cautious:

Edit - see post above. OK, it's getting slightly better ^^^^^ now.

Right. We need a straight jacket and private jet to render this guy to our training ground and get the contract signed before anyone tries to muscle in.

That said, I agree with those who wrote earlier that if Spurs are the sponsor of the work permit, then it is only valid for us, not any other UK employer.

From Sky Sports:

Serge Aurier's move to Tottenham is imminent, according to Sky sources.

In the past few minutes, we've been told by his representatives he has been granted a work permit enabling him to finalise his transfer.

The clubs agreed a £23m deal last week and Aurier has completed his medical and agreed personal terms.

PSG had set a midday deadline for Aurier to sort out that permit - or he could have been transferred to Barcelona or Juventus, where a permit would not be required.

We are told there was interest from Manchester United and Chelsea - but Aurier has chosen Tottenham and cited Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy as major factors in his decision.

I think you are well entitled to that opinion and anyone negging you is being a bit unfair. Personally I'm excited for the signing and willing to give him a fresh slate at Spurs.

I know it's been posted before, but if we end up in a position where we can play:

Lloris

Sanchez Alderweireld Vertonghen

Aurier--------------------------------------------------Rose
Then that is a hell of a good defensive base for the rest of the team.

Easily the best in the league and if Sanchez and Aurier settle quickly one of the best in the world.

Dier/Wanyama and Dembele sitting in front too. May come in handy in CL or tough away games. Asking a lot on the front three if so, another pacey option would help there.

I'd assume people are negging as it was done to death over the first 80 or so pages of this thread

Also, I agree with you and believe he will be a great signing and I'm excited to see him in action
