That Chelsea regularly can, and do, pay massively over the odds for players, regardless of whether it's a good deal, because they have infinite money and particularly like to go for players they know we are interested in as it prevents us getting them?
Anyone noticed how TS, mainly Andy Jacobs, keep trying to portray that Chelsea don't spend money anymore like other teams and even try to draw comparisons with us!!! Havin a fkin laugh I think.
Apologies for derailing thread but pisses me off :)

Am guessing he may try for a move to Poch's merry men in Jan (still time to get in the WC squad) and if not perhaps would consider a new contract at Everton
I don't know why he would consider a new contract, he hasn't played himself into the England squad very well at Everton up til now so I can't see why signing a new contract would change that.

tend to agree but was reacting to @Trix reasonable concern on how Ross would feel if he were at Everton and not playing in a WC year

Because he won't play for Everton at all without doing it.

I've been saying this all window, I genuinely believe this may be our only chance and talk of simply waiting til January is a little unrealistic.

And in a World Cup year, he'll want a chance of playing once he's fit again.

But if he signs a new contract with Everton, they can start demanding £50 milion plus, and we won't pay that.

Gotta say, I really do feel for Barkley if this goes tits up. From what we have been led to believe from the ITKs, he has been playing the waiting game all summer for us and now it looks like he is left in limbo. There has been no stirring shit up in the press from him, he has been silent. He has even turned down a bigger offer from Everton than he were to ģet from us is also my understanding? Plus (and again, we don't know how much is true), we're led to believe he would turn down Chelscum just to play for Poch and get his career back on track.

There is also the concern that we've been told many times that Barkley is the main target that Poch wanted this summer. I do feel it is surely extremely short-termist to pull out of a deal which would see us get him for 5 years in all probability just because he will miss a few months. And yes, I do understand we will be saving on a fee and wages during that time which is good business sense, but the problem here is that it may scupper us altogether as there is no certainty we will be able to get him in January. He may feel shafted by us or even just feel he has to sign that new contract with them so that he can get in the world cup squad.

I can't help thinking of the Van Nistlerooy deal with United. Remember when he got that terrible injury but Fergie promised him he would come back a year later? I just hope Poch has built enough trust with Ross for a similar deal to be reached.

Slightly gutted about this one to be honest.

If his injury is as bad as has been reported (which I know has not been confirmed), he won't be fit to play until close to January anyway so I don't think staying at Everton for the time being would necessarily lead him to sign a new contract.

223 pages later.....we wont sign Barkley. I doubt he will go to Chelsea either. If I were I would just work on getting fit and wait to see what January brings. Personally think Everton will have cost themselves alot of money
