Even if he has his heart set on joining us they can still mess us about in Jan by generating interest from others, accepting bigger bids etc. or just making him wait it out til the summer. If they had any sympathy for what he wanted (Not that they should) then we would have been able to find a way to come to a deal in the last week or so.
If Everton wait until summer, they will have lost around £20 million by not accepting Tottenham's latest offer, plus his wages for another season (another £2 million say?). They can mitigate that by accepting whatever is offered in January by a club Barkley wants to play for, whoever that might be. At the moment it seems to be Tottenham. He is not likely to be worth anywhere near as much in January, unless Koeman has a change of heart and plays him regularly as soon as he's fit, and he hits the ground running. Other clubs will be wary of making any offers unless he or his agent makes it quite clear in the meantime that he is open to move to them.
Of course financial prudence might not be important to Everton, though I somehow doubt it.
Meanwhile Chelsea have learnt for the umpteenth time this transfer window that throwing money at transfer targets doesn't always work any more when there is an alternative.

They've been caught with their pants down really, not agreeing to deal with us has cost them a lot of money, if they do that in Jan they won't get a penny.
They can accept all the bids in the world but if Ross wants to come to us there's fuck all they can do, we have all the power in this one.

If it is to be 3-4-2-1 we're very light in the two behind the frontman.

Lamela is a great option for that area but when will we see him again? Same feeling regarding Barkley.

Realistically we probably won't have either until January, that's a long time to go having just Eriksen, Alli & Son really.

It would be fantastic if N'Koudou could add something, even Edwards. It's demoralising still seeing Sissoko coming off the bench.

Apart from that I think we're looking good in all other areas.

Pleat last night said he is back doing light training.

In the summer that club official said his return date was October.

If he has just returned to light training then a month or so seems right

Until otherwise stated I'm really no sure why everyone constantly says who knows when he'll be back etc like he's in a coma

a real meh window
still short on attacking options, poch said he wanted a player to challenge Dele and Eriksen, said he wanted one more player
6/10 as all we have really done is replaced one very good right back with another, got a very good centre back and a back up striker
cant really count a 3rd choice keeper and cant see Foyth playing much till next year at earliest
the surprising thing was all of the ITK was pretty definte we were going to sign a top attacking player, every single comment was positive, gamechanger, ducks in a row, pace etc yet the signings we made were pretty much ones that hadnt been called, certainly no one mentioned llorente at all
feel we are short attacking wise again, especially in CL with Dele suspended, yet again we are 20-30m up
time will tell but again looks like we have missed a trick

Barkley getting injured clearly changed our plans. Looks like Poch considered Gomes but changed his mind to wait for Rb. In reality we've added a reliable striker to one of the most potent attacking teams in the league and have Lamela coming back.

Our relationship with Chelsea must be at an all time low which I didn't think was possible.
Just guessing, they tried to tap up Rose, he had a meltdown which we nipped in the bud (pardon the pun) we then took three of their targets, if Barkley comes off.
I'm expecting some kind of retaliation but hopefully so is Levy and the rest of our board/decision makers and we can keep one step ahead.

The fact that we are in a position that I would feel uneasy in letting Sissoko go due to squad depth means that the window wasn't 100% successful!

For every BSODL who are happy with the work Levy does there is a Football manager who HAS to make wholesale changes each transfer window and is incensed when we don't. We have been here so many times I still find it hilarious when people get so frustrated with our way of doing things? We aren't cash rich. We have to be savvy. And we aren't playing a football game where we can just press reset and start another season. people who say, I don't know why he doesn't just spend another 10 Million on Barkley, let me level this at you. Would you pay another 10,000 on a car you knew you could get in 3 months time for 5,000? just because there is silly money around and teams with deeper pockets can afford to take a punt. knowing the risk for them is low. Doesn't mean we can. We are building a stadium which will house us for the next 100 years. If we spend stupidly we may end up like Nottingham Forest or Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday. great old clubs who are now nothings. Brighton have taken the spurs blueprint and spent wisely invested in their future and are now up with the big boys. It has to be evolution not revolution at spurs until such time as the club is in a position where it doesn't have massive burdens and can match the Arsenals, Chelsea's and Man United's of this world.

We are truly a club moving in the right direction. In the right way. with, in my view one of the best managers in the world. We have never had it so good. So remember that when thinking about the pacey wide player we didn't get.

Thanks massively to the MODS and the ITK and all the community for making this a fantastic place to be. As I always say, this is the first site I visit in the morning and the last place I attend at night. Well almost the last place :)

To me it seems like we got all of our defensive targets that we set out to get at the beginning of the window, and none of our attacking targets. Unless the plan was to get Llorente on deadline day all along...

Llorente is an excellent signing Kane, Jansen and the younger forwards at the club should all learn a thing or two from him. So much experience at the very top level.

Clear Poch wanted one more but I still think he got a forward, defender and a midfielder (if we count Aurier as a midfielder which he is in a 3-4-2-1) so strengthened most of his lines. I suspect the wide forward would have signed if there was a super deal to do but I have my doubts that Poch is even desperate for one. Of all the confirmed players we were after, there isn't a winger amongst them and the signings looked to me like he wanted the squad to be better suited to a 3-4-2-1.

My guess is Poch wanted another number 10 (Barkley) but my guess is he's happy to wait until Jan for him.

United, City, Arsenal (ha), Pool and Chelsea all missed out on at least one key target so people saying Poch will now leave are mental.

Window wasnt 100% successful, but can we get off Sissoko's back for sometime & give him a chance. He has done more in 3 PL games this season than entire last season.

What did he say?
We need players who can challenge our starting XI, players who believe in themselves and think ‘OK, I can challenge Dele Alli, I can challenge Harry Kane.

"Harry Kane knows very well from when he was behind [Roberto] Soldado and [Emmanuel] Adebayor what happens when you're not focused for a moment, if another player is behind you pushing for a chance if you don't give your best.

“We need to bring new energy and strengthen our squad, everyone knows that. If you look at the history of Tottenham in the last few years, we always spend at the end of the window.

I think we waited for bargains that just didn't materialise, there is so much money swilling about in football that any half decent clubs just do not need to sell.

Soton kept hold of Van Djik, Sanchez with 1 year left on a contract not sold for £60m and it goes on.

It wasn't just us stunned by the market, a lot of clubs kept their powder dry yesterday.

Onto the squad, it is certainly strengthened on paper and a couple of players have a chance to prove themselves. I really hope Sissoko and N'Koudou take this oportunity.

I also hope Poch is satisfied with our efforts as this is the most important thing.

p.s Barkley is surely on his way in January.

Thanks to the mods for the service this year.
