Summary of the window. We have to commend Daniel Levy. There were differences of opinions between him and Poch. I think it is safe to say both saw the light. There is absolutely no way anyone can criticise Daniel and moan about our missed targets, and 'Pinch of salt' ITK's who have given you very accurate, and honest updates, be it positive or negative. We do cross reference on occasions know ;)

Big shout out to Rob (Governor) and A&C, for their excellent work. Before I go any further, I will be donating £50 between today and tomorrow. Bosses please inbox me to remind me.

I will bullet point what was said with results and reasons, to the best of my knowledge.

1. Ross Barkley=As was said all along, not fully fit, and issues with his injury, we wanted to deal at figure which will not go public, but less than chavs, but not much less. He came to London, hoping to be diverted William style, but Everton refused to talk to us, as chavs tried Daniel's famous (after Willian) exclusivity clause:ROFLMAO:

When it became apparent after a flea got in his ear Ross scarpered, to return on our terms in January.

2. Our contingency was Gomez as loan with option to buy. We were more keen on the loan with option in our favour, and not Barca. We would have to of made a commitment to buy either way. In the region of 40 plus million. Poch was asked, and was not keen. Daniel then walked away.

3. Llorente was the silent one, and so silent that our relationship with Swansea made sure it stayed that way. Chavs wanted to deal earlier in the window, but Swans wanted Bony, but couldn't deal until GS was sold. We were tipped off by their hierarchy that bid was accepted by Spanish club, and chavs. Poch made a personal call to him. Once that was done chavs stood no chance. This is all Poch.

4. VJ, Poch loves him as a person, and admires his attitude. Poch wants it to work for him, and told him he needs 3 specialist strikers, and with all the games he would get his games.

5. DS= Without our backroom staff this deal would not even of developed. We had been talking to Ajax, having a full dossier on him. Chavs were very keen, along with the two Spanish giants. Also Bayern were keen. He spent a lot of time talking to Poch, and eventually that swayed it. He was shown videos of our complex and stadium. Enough said.

6. SA=Another one down to our backroom staff. Daniel commissioned experts he trusts in France, along with very highly regarded legal counsel in the U.K., who were liaison with appropriate authorities to risk assess. Once they knew it was over, SA was so confident he declined Yanited and chavs especially. Poch played a blinder also.

7. Foyth=Came out of Poch's influence and connections. Daniel, you naughty boy what you did with PSG. Can we say they were never serious?

8. GK=Poch wants 3, and convinced he will prove a shrewd signing, and rates his staff to improve him beyond compare. He also showed well in Spain.

9. Wing forward, we had a few options, but reasons we pulled with Poch's blessings. Zaha is interesting, and may be revisited later. All down to Poch, and Zaha has 35m clause that becomes effective around April.

10. Jadon could be a Zaki Fryers in January or summer. Watch this space.

11. Dembele will be utilised in advanced roles, subject to matches. Due to our pacey defensive additions.

12. Lamela is not far off, and will be used in No. 10 role. Hope it works out for him, because if not Roma is calling.

13. Danny boy Rose is happy. No issues with him. Still think he may go amicably end of season. We promised him that. Key to that will be if he is upgraded in his contract, as all the ones we want will be. Don't worry about Toby. All good.

There you have it. No moaning please. Overall we done good business. COYS!!!

For every BSODL who are happy with the work Levy does there is a Football manager who HAS to make wholesale changes each transfer window and is incensed when we don't. We have been here so many times I still find it hilarious when people get so frustrated with our way of doing things? We aren't cash rich. We have to be savvy. And we aren't playing a football game where we can just press reset and start another season. people who say, I don't know why he doesn't just spend another 10 Million on Barkley, let me level this at you. Would you pay another 10,000 on a car you knew you could get in 3 months time for 5,000? just because there is silly money around and teams with deeper pockets can afford to take a punt. knowing the risk for them is low. Doesn't mean we can. We are building a stadium which will house us for the next 100 years. If we spend stupidly we may end up like Nottingham Forest or Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday. great old clubs who are now nothings. Brighton have taken the spurs blueprint and spent wisely invested in their future and are now up with the big boys. It has to be evolution not revolution at spurs until such time as the club is in a position where it doesn't have massive burdens and can match the Arsenals, Chelsea's and Man United's of this world.

We are truly a club moving in the right direction. In the right way. with, in my view one of the best managers in the world. We have never had it so good. So remember that when thinking about the pacey wide player we didn't get.

Thanks massively to the MODS and the ITK and all the community for making this a fantastic place to be. As I always say, this is the first site I visit in the morning and the last place I attend at night. Well almost the last place :)
why is it football manager when we made a 20-30m profit and are short of attacking options which from what the manager said we clearly wanted
hate it when people bring up fucking leeds, no one is asking for a 100m net spend, but investment in an area that was needed and what poch said was needed when the money should have been clearly there is hardly rampant overspend

Our relationship with Chelsea must be at an all time low which I didn't think was possible.
Just guessing, they tried to tap up Rose, he had a meltdown which we nipped in the bud (pardon the pun) we then took three of their targets, if Barkley comes off.
I'm expecting some kind of retaliation but hopefully so is Levy and the rest of our board/decision makers and we can keep one step ahead.
Chelsea really are a grotty, classless club. A stain on football. Dislike them more than Arsenal.

Who though? Do we buy for the sake of buying? A player the manager wouldn't give the time of day, who is not as good as what we have?

Might aswell wait.

Great to have such a high level of insight such as this, thanks for breaking it all down Hercules. If Poch's happy then I am too. A lot of that makes some satisfying reading :)

I can't see how the Sancho one would work though, seems that Dortmund really wanted the lad and have given him Dembele's shirt.

Cheers Herc, if Zaha has a 35m clause then I really hope we dont piss about and just go straight in and pay it. Would be an unbelievable option off the bench.

Really cant see Sancho coming here unless he goes on strike again. Apparently Dortmund have paid 8m and have given City a sell on clause as well as giving him the #7 shirt so I dont see what they'd gain from it. They're a big club unlike Liege. We'd have to pay well over 10m I imagine.

How are we as a team short of attacking options. Please explain? And yes. we made a profit whoop de woo. Lets spend it on a player who may or may not do a job for us. Just so we can say we have spent more than we have earned.

And paid a reported 10m (BBC) to get him

Love every bit of that! Sounds like Poch is a very smooth talker

I like the talk around Jadon, would be great to get him through the door... and I'd love to see the Fulham kid follow him through that door too. Zaha is an interesting scenario.... 35m sounds overs but might well not be in one years time. His type would be a great addition

Thanks Hercules. When we say treat itk with a pinch of salt that doesn't mean we think that what you hear is not true. It means that things continuously change and not to take it as that is what is going to happen.
Many posters on here get way too excited by the itk then throw their toys out of the pram when it doesn't come off.
Treat itk with a pinch of salt is just trying to manage expectations so that we don't have meltdowns (it fails miserably).

Thanks for everything this summer you have been great. See you in the other threads.

If I had to guess, it'd be 15m and Dortmund would get the next sell-on. Small wages for the next year and an almost guarateed profit. Smart business from them.

There is absolutely no chance of a Fryers type situation with Sancho, you don't have to be ITK to know that. He signed for around £8m, has been given their number 7 and Dortmund are a bigger club than us atm. He's not going to use them to wrangle a move to us.

Yeah, that's more how i saw the move - he's going to a great club to develop and play. He may come back at some stage but i didn't see this move as being a one season job.

Great update, and I am sure all with great faith and probablty true, that doesn't mean that Im not struggling to get my head round the fact that we didn't actually want a pacey wide forward after all the planning and bids and ITK that we did want one.

Good info hercule. However i'm seriously doubting Poch's judgment on attacking players if he didn't want to get a winger/dribbler in nor identify one. Sissoko and GKN are not viable gamechangers for us.

Sancho is a strange one, to give a 17yr old with not one professional appearance to his name a first XI shirt number? Very bold. I like the theory of us getting him in a Fryers'esque deal, but Dortmund don't strike me as a club to be doing that. If they've paid £8m plus a sell on clause to City, we'd have to spend a fair bit to make it worth their while.
Fair play to the lad though, I give huge credit to any player who tries their luck in a major foreign league, can only grow as a footballer and a person, right outside the comfort zone there. Kind of dispels the home sickness thing though.

Sounds as though Poch is happy enough with his lot, and in truth, sounds as though he personally played a huge part in convincing some of these players. Maybe Poch is the #gamechanger, getting some of these targets from under the noses of clubs that would historically have blown us away.

Who though? Do we buy for the sake of buying? A player the manager wouldn't give the time of day, who is not as good as what we have?

Might aswell wait.
Yeah - there was a time we would have bought just to have another body. It appears Poch would rather ensure he gets the correct person/player and if Barkley rumours are true then we are prepared to wait to get it right.

This is a well run club compared to many others. Arse appear to be a mess right now and I can't see Conte lasting the season. Utd and Citeh are the big threats this year but Liverpool will gift too many goals over the season to be a threat at the very top.

Good window if not great - optimistic for third spot when we get a run going at Wembley (which we will).
