I reckon Chelsea were proper confident of hijacking this one once the permit issues etc had been sorted out. Would explain why they panic bought Zappacosta at the end, their plan A (Willian-ing us again for Aurier) failed and they had to look elsewhere.

****s

So we basically fucked them over 3 times in 1 day?? I approve whole heartedly.

I really want to know if the 'exclusivity' clause is a real thing, I don't know whether it was mentioned by ITK or someone on the board, if it was an opinion or something verifoed but it sounds like the way fwd to not let willinagate situation arise again.

A de facto exclusivity situation would have arisen because Spurs were the sponsoring employer requesting a visa and work permit with the Home Office. But we may have negotiated something specific with PSG in this case.

More generally though, presumably both the selling club and the player would have to agree to exclusivity for such a clause to be meaningful.

There are suggestions that Everton tried to impose an exclusivity clause on Barkley, meaning once they had accepted chavski's offer, no other club could match it. Once Barkley got wind of this, he pulled out of the chavvy deal.

So, I can't see such a clause becoming widespread. Most players and their agents would like to have as much choice as possible with regard to any future club.

He will light up the changing room. He hates loosing. He will dig out players. He will challenge others. Hard as nails
I think he and Sanchez will both add - positively - to the club's personality. Almost a little too bland right now. And, while we don't want a squad full of personalities - I think we need a few to keep things lively.

Does anyone know if he's had a decent preseason and played in any competitive matches? He's in the squad to play for Ivory Coast on Saturday & Tuesday so unlikely to make his debut against Everton regardless but we could really do with him if at all possible

Watching the Ivory Coast game now. He may be an assist machine. He has the perfect bend on his crosses. Physically he is scary too. It's like having a faster more athletic Wanyama as a RB.

Scary to imagine what he could do with Llorente getting on the end of his crosses, let alone Kane and Alli.

With the current state of the market, i would struggle to suggest any other signing that could top this in respect of value for money.

An absolute beast of a RB, can't wait to see this guy play for us. He was the best RB we could have signed and at the start of the window if someone would have actually suggested we could have pulled it off i would have just laughed it off and said don't get your hopes up. Such a coup.
