Noble was decent at one point but only a guff version of Parker, proper guff.

There is no other midfielder like Winks, so good under pressure, makes space for himself, aggressive & two footed, I'll be surprised if he isn't first choice by the end of the season

Also he gets his head up and actually likes to influence play as opposed to shifting it sideways and relying on others. And he's only just turned 21. Let's hope his injury was a one-off, if so there's no doubt in my mind he'll be one of the un-droppables soon.

I love Winks, I really do. My only worry is that Poch places so much importance in ball recovery that he might be reticent to fully trust Winks. Although mobile, I feel his pressing and tackling need a lot of work to get up to the levels that Dembele and Wanyama show each match. I believe that what he offers you on the ball more than compensates for these deficiencies but i'm concerned Poch might not see it this way.

Can I have my undeserved neg reps rescinded as well please? I can't stand the hit to my reputation. Ta.

@Dougal is on some serious comedic form here.

As for Winks, I like him, I'm not sure how good he will be but he's shown technique, bravery on the ball, vision and work rate so far. On the whole he's played pretty well, nothing spectacular yet but it'll come, he's shown more than Modric did in his first season and a half, also more than Carrick did in his first season and a half, and they were both 22 when they signed for us while Winks is still 21. I'm not suggesting that I think he'll match those two, I hope he does, but he's done more than enough to earn increased responsibility next season as well as patience from our crowd.

I really hope this kid gets his run in the squad. Him sitting next to Wanyama and Dembele in a midfield 3 for some games would be beautiful in my opinion. Additionally him spraying balls out to the wide Serge and Danny while Wanyama just cleans up in a 3 at the back model makes me excited for the future.

He has everything in his locker, he just needs to settle in. I don't buy that he doesn't have the break up play in him as I have seen plenty in his little time on the pitch to suggest that he will be just fine. Especially when we have three at the back and Wanyama in. There is plenty of strength in there to counter a counter attack.

How many full 90 mins has he had? I thInk he needs more full games i.e. a proper run of matches to aid his development and be properly assessed.

He'll be incredibly important over this next month, as there's no way Dembele will be able to play every game.

Agreed but Winks needs a run of four or more matches rather than being in and out of the starting eleven. No point starting more experienced players if they're not fully fit which is perhaps what happened with Wanyama thus creating an even more injured player

If Dembele is injured (or used elsewhere ) I would rather he played alongside either Dier or Wanyama than having them together in midfield, no matter the opposition.

Not sure if he's ready to start games yet, having withdrawn from international duty (if memory serves me right). Maybe ready for 90 mins in the league cup game?

Looks like he still not right after his injury may take time with him this year.

Was pretty poor and off the pace when he came on today sadly,

Hopefully he gets over the injury as time progresses to get back to the level he was last year

Don't really get why he's in squad if not fit.Surely be better to get totally right ,than playing 10 mins here and there.Could quickly get overtaken by TOB who seems to be around 1st squad and travelled yesterday and most likely be on bench for Dortmund .
