It's what he said after which pissed me off more, about being applauded on the training ground.

To be fair, unless I've missed something, that was just what the Sun said happened the next day, rather than him coming out and saying it. I basically call bullshit on that one because there's absolutely no way he received a hero's welcome from his teammates after basically slagging most of them off and talking out of school.

I think you're looking at it through rose-tinted spectacles a bit there (no pun intended). The fact that he set up and/or agreed to do the interview in the first place was in itself an act of rebellion, let alone all the stuff he actually said.
He's a (very well paid) footballer, not a soldier. He was asked a question, he had an opinion. It's not a betrayal or an act of treason. He's a professional athlete not a fan.

The bit that confuses me so much is that he said exactly the same thing that so many fans were saying at the time and yet he has to go? Odd - perhaps it's a matter of expectation. I don't expect Danny to be a fan or commit his life to Spurs - don't get me wrong, I don't expect him to be a bit of a dick (which he was here) but some of the language pointed at the guy is well off what I'd expect- let alone the talk about booing him when he eventually plays.

Then he probably should act like a professional and not talk shit to the media about the institution he works for, don't you think?

What do you think was the point of him spewing all those things to the media? He was totally angling for a move, and didn't give a fuck if he was throwing his current club and fans under the bus in the process. That's not being a straight talker, that's simply being a piece of shite with no integrity. Hope he's given his move up north in the winter and we never see him wearing a Spurs shirt ever again.

I don't care how good he is or thinks he is, he will have to prove it all over again and it won't be easy. Davies has improved and Rose will be rotated more when fit weather he likes it or not, also the crowd will get on his back at the slightest error - People love a big time Charlie to fail!
The pressure could get to him and I think it won't be long before he throws his toys out the pram again.
He will be gone in the summer, hope we have the Fulham kid lined up as a replacement.

There's no doubt Davies has proved his worth whilst Rose has been out but we shouldn't be trying to push Rose out. We need two top quality full backs and at present Sessegnon is no where near Rose.

People need to chill out and leave the discipline to Poch. If he wants him gone, he will go, if not he will get plenty of game time between now and the end of the season.

WTF is Danny Rose

Reminds me of Rsol all those years ago getting a little injury which turned into him disappearing and suddenly turning up at a frigging Scum press conference!!!

The good news is after taking advise and googling the scum I'm sure he won't end up with that lot

I understand that he's not a fan of the club so has no automatic loyalty, however you don't have to be a soldier to have some sort of sense of right and wrong or even just common decency. Tottenham is still his employer and he knew full well that being so publicly critical of the club and his colleagues was not going to go down well. For arguments sake, say you work for a big company like Microsoft. You don't have any kind of built-in love for the company like a "fan", they're just your employer, much how Rose probably sees Spurs. However, you still would be in big trouble if you went and did an interview with, say, the Economist where you talked about how the new products Microsoft were putting out aren't good enough, that they don't pay you what you're worth, and how you'd love to, and will, one day work for Apple. You'd probably be fired on the spot.

As for what he said, yes fans might agree with it, but there's a huge difference between fans saying/thinking it and someone from the club coming out and saying it publicly. To go back to my above analogy, it's fine for journalists, customers etc. to say that Microsoft isn't up to scratch lately, but if someone senior at Microsoft publicly says it that's a different thing entirely.

Personally, I don't want him to be booed, I want to move on from it and get as much use out of him as we can. But I think it's a bit naive to suggest that he's totally innocent in this whole thing and was just blindsided by the papers. He was clearly heavily involved in setting it all up and clearly wanted to come out and say these things, he wasn't tricked into it.

Blimey, did he personally rob your house and leave a steaming turd on your bed?

Agree to disagree on this one I think.

I'm not suggesting that what he did was correct - or for that matter very bright. What confuses me is the level of animosity that he is receiving for what he said but I can see that I'm in the minority so will leave it be. :)

I agree 100%

I would prefer seeing a transcript with people saying what they think was wrong but I personally from what I seen, its not that bad.

He didnt even say he wants to leave, iirc he said if there was an offer he would want to discuss it with his manager

TBH most players just throw their toys at the pram when an offer comes and want to leave

He disappointed me, I won't ever see him him in the same affection as before.

Exactly.

He was seen as Poch's son at Tottenham. The embodiment of his work with young raw talent. Rose may yet realize his error and commit his heart again.

Then he probably should act like a professional , not to tell whom to google and whom to not right ? What fans were saying and what a professional should say - are two different things and both of their opinions should vary. A professional should not act like a fan ...

Can't see him being here next summer. I'll support any player but he's a massive **** and shouldn't be allowed to wear a spurs shirt again.

This sort of faux vitriol is why football fans are generally mocked for being either drunken louts or children.

We are over the moon when other players say they want to come to us but find it abhorrent when the roles are reversed?!
