The grass is always greener to some of our fans. They look at other teams spending money and get jealous. What they don't think is would any of those signings get in our starting 11 or even our squad?

I'd take Pickford ahead of Gazzaniga, tbf.

Pickford and Siggurdson are decent players. Give them time and I'm sure they will be effective. The problem comes when you want to finish above 7th. Arse could be overtaken but they need to spend a lot more to catch up with us and the others.
Siggurdson is just not good enough. Terrible signing. Thank god we were not stupid enough to resign him. If Redknapp was here he would have. God I love Poch:)

Just as a matter of interest mate, what exactly do you know about Gazzaniga?

Seems so many people are angry about his signing and I have no idea why.

How often have you watched him?

I cast my mind back to 1964 and we signed a young 18 year old goalie from Watford. He was terrible at first, but grew to become the greatest goalkeeper I ever saw. His name was Pat Jennings.

Let's not be too hard on young Gazzaniga, he's still very young and is learning his trade. Let's face it, he's joined one of the few clubs who'll give him every opportunity to mature and develop his goalkeeping skills, and with our incredible training facilities and expert coaches...who knows what he's going to grow up to?

Some BVB forum stuff, via Google Translate. Tried to keep it to comprehensible ones:

Even if the English teams in the CL have not been in the final for a long time, they still have a very high quality. On bad days you can get a really bloody nose on the island (LFC
icon_cry.gif
). Therefore, PB must tactically set the team well for the defensive stability to be ensured. I am very curious and can not estimate how strong our team is currently really.

I've just seen the Alli because of a red lock against us will be missing .... sounds good.

I expect the highest speed and brutal pressing of tottenham. hopefully we can keep it against.

one should already confidently go to London point we have significantly more international experience than Tottenham Hotspur. And we'll get at least one point. I even count with a victory. Apart from the experience of Monaco, we have always convinced in the Champions League and have always survived the group stage, except for our first Champions League year under Klopp.

So head up, chest out and off you go.

The absence of Alli is certainly a hard blow for Tottenham, besides, it runs in Wembley so now not really so outstanding for the. Respect yes - fear no!

At Tottenham we definitely need a defensive midfielder like Castro to keep Christian Eriksen in check. In addition, due to which their defense chain is a second large-scale striker like yarmolenko important. For this, Pulisic or Philip would have to give way. I'm not sure which of the two should go. On the one hand, Philipp really convinced me in all the games. On the other hand, I was reluctant to sit down on the bench, but he did not look so fresh after the break.

In no case Yarmolenko from the beginning! He knows neither the system, nor the paths of the fellow players and certainly no defensive dirty work, which is urgently needed in London.

No experiments!

The game is too important to start with. That's why Zagadou and Philipp! No need for further changes .. he can do Sunday.

TOT 1: 1 BVB.

My tip: 0-2 Defeat

Did not feel good about this game ...

Not at all anti-Gazzaniga and fully aware of his youth and inexperience. Just very impressed (mostly) by Pickford. And Keane, come to think of it.

I wouldn't take it as anti-Gazzaniga, just saying that our team is so far superior that even their first choice keeper would only be as good as our third. Also he's 25 so young in goalkeeping terms, but not that young.

FFS, if we lose tomorrow it will certainly be because of The Alli™ having a red lock.

On a serious note, their fans do seem reasonable enough, most of them not taking anything for granted, and knows that they'll have to produce a good performance to get something out of the game.

This Gazzaniga stuff is like some meta-humorous thing right?

Gazzaniga was signed as 3rd choice because he understands what Poch wants in a goalkeeper and thats it. He will probably never play for spurs. Like thats all there is to it. He's not that young and would need to improve an incredible amount to ever really become a top PL player. But thats okay, thats not his job, his job is to cover for the other two goalkeepers, to train with them and to be a figure in the dressing room.

I thought the Pickford Gazzaniga thing worked as a joke, I Pickford is probably better than Vorm as well but the point is that its funny. To contrast Pickford, a highly hyped starting PL player, to Gazzaniga a perpetual reserve goalkeeper who has been loaned out to second division clubs without much success, is funny.

What a life though, 10k (or something) a week to be average at your profession while doing no work (0 games). I've been striving for this my whole career.

As Poch always says. Footballers are paid to train, not to play.

I understand where this guy is coming from. Also I get a sense they think it won't be as easy as the Europa league farce a couple of seasons ago.
