Fantastic result and what a way to start off our Champions League campaign.

We looked good on the break, which is somewhere I've occasionally felt we can be a bit lacking, Hugo and the boys in defence made some crucial interventions, and we managed to calm things down and look more settled in the 2nd half.

Dortmund looked frighteningly good at times, which makes the result even better in a way. The final 5 minutes felt a lot like the ref had realised there was a mistake with what should have been Dortmund's 2nd goal, and was trying to make up for it. It's a shame we'll have to do without Jan in the next game, but thankfully it's against relatively speaking the 'easiest' team in the group.

Also special mention to Aurier who had a cracking debut. He looked composed under pressure, and made some clever moves and good passes to get out from the back on a few occasions.

All in all, while the first half may have been nerve-wracking it felt like an accomplished performance overall, where we adapted to a difficult opponent and came away with all 3 well earned points.

I don't really think Dortmund can complain about the ref

Yes PEA's goals should've counted but the overall decision making from the ref was very much in their favour+ there was an offside in the build up to their first goal

Arsenal fans messaging me saying typical lucky Spurs fuck off tonight is about the big teams in Europe

Lots of good performances tonight - Poch, Aurier, Sanchez, Verts, Jan, Son and obviously Kane but I thought that Eriksen was absolutely immense tonight - particularly without the ball.

Why could Dortmund not go all out - because they knew that Eriksen (and Son and Kane) would absolutely punish them, He also harried mercilessly and covered so much ground in that second half - absolutely amazing performance.

Poch needs to bottle up this match plan and save it. We need to do the exact same thing when we play Liverpool and City. This match is a blueprint on how you beat them.

I'm not the only one thinking that that was tactical the way we played first half. It was a gamble no doubt. I suppose though when you have the quality we have upfront that's a gamble worth taking. Let em have it, hit them on the break and at 60 mins they were shot. Eriksen was anonymous until the second half and then he just started taking them apart. We rode our luck early on, then we just played it out and could have won by more.

I don't think so. First half we were just far too deep. I was shouting at us to push out all half. Second half the centre backs were much higher up the pitch letting us squeeze the game and stopping them getting the ball out wide where they threatened us first half. I think that's why we were better. Poch always wants us to play higher up the pitch. I can't imagine he was happy with us sitting so deep for the first 30/40 minutes.

Is there any recourse for overturning Jan's Red card? and is it worth trying if there is? ie any danger of them increasing the ban.
Also how long is the ban?straight red I would think 3 matches if it is seen as violent conduct.

Should never have been a red, at worst he was turning while feeling for the guy.

Will need him for the upcoming games.

it was a second yellow, which I dont think you can appeal. but definitely a second yellow by all sources including official CL site.

Two yellows, one game missed, no appeal.

Today we found a way to play the big teams. Does not look good aesthetically but it works. Thing is we now have players to do that. Aurier & Sanchez with their pace give us that insurance at back.

I hope we get Wanyama soon. A fit Wanyama in middle of park could be the extra something we need to win or draw at places like Bernabeau.

Beating Dortmund doesn't feel like those wins we got back in the 2010-11 season. I don't mean that in a bad way it just doesn't feel like "plucky Spurs" punching above their weight anymore, you know we belong in this competition and we just need to prove it. That's why I was so frustrated with that 1st half as I didn't think it showed what we're all about, that second half was brilliant and we could've scored 4 or 5 in the end. COYS!

Serge Aurier...

Just 1 game, has shown us pace, power & intelligent passing. Walker runs fast & stops, but Aurier doesn't. He started a bit shaky but grew into the game well. His positioning is also decent.

Really buzzing that we got him. Hope he keeps his head & improves. Now there is no question - Aurier over Trippier all day long. If this was in doubt before, not anymore after today.

If we get anything in Madrid i'll do any forfeit you like that involves me stripping naked, a buttplug, two leeks, an albino pit pony, a feather duster, a can of squirty cream, one Romanian weightlifter dwarf and a gas mask.
