Davinson Sanchez is already impressing for Tottenham. Adam Bate was at Wembley to watch the defender's Champions League debut and believes he can make Spurs stronger in the biggest games.

Very impressive from Sanchez. Seeing Vertonghen pop up on the right wing when we really cut loose was an indication of how liberating it will be for our Belgian CBs having Sanchez with them. Getting them bringing the ball out more will be the next big phase in our development IMO.

Edit; Make no bones about it, we struggled against Dortmund. They are a bloody good team on the front foot, and I don't think we would have held them off without Sanchez. It's not just his personal contribution but how he spreads the defensive load between himself, Toby and Verts in a way that Dier doesn't do.

I thought he looked a bit shaky. He will be great for us,I'm sure, but,he's quite raw and Dortmund are top-drawer going forward.Toby and Jan bailed him out on at least 3 occasions last night.

Not sure I agree that he's there for more defensive assurances.

I think 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs is more attack minded.

I think he was the weakest of the three. But when the other two are that bloody good the bar is set very high. Definitely huge potential and if he lives up to it we're in for a treat.

The 3 at the back worked splendidly yesterday. The third goal we scored against Dortmund, the player furthest up was Davis, our left back. Given that he also made a few important clearances, it says a lot about our formation, strategy and execution.

Looks an excellent player. Still settling in but easy to forget he's just arrived and that was a very good team in a big pressure match. Helped that the other two centre backs were great, someone get Toby a new contract now please.

Our defence is so good and Verts and Toby will help Sanchez develop into a top CB.
It's amazing to think we've also got Foyth to come through next.
Dortmund's attack was top level and besides not closing Yarmo down, we did a really decent job.
