I thought Keanan had a really strong end to last season as well. I dont at all mind him getting the game time at u23 level, I just hope he starts training regularly with the first team so he can start the process of becoming comfortable in that setting.

poch previously said about reevaluating the young players with the first team every six months and i think that applies to moving them up to first team training(full-time) as well, last year for example kwp didn't join up with the seniors until january so i think that will be the time for bennetts if he continues to progress as he has been recently.

Is bennetts good enough for us to not pursue sessegnon? Although I'd like sess, I'd prefer us not to become player hoarders like Chelsea and just promote our own

Agree Bennetts looked good in those highlights as a creative force, not much involvement in the Wimbledon goals so cant judge his defensive duties. Austin (GK) looked poor and at fault for 3 of the goals. Very difficult though to field an U21 goalkeeper when keepers don't tend to mature until their mid twenties, always means you'll concede goals.

It's interesting as Bennetts is a year older but has no first team experience like Sessegnon. Maybe the coaches have looked at his form and potential for improvement and thought that he could become a good 3rd option for lwb without having to spend the huge sums that Fulham are looking for.

With our new stadium meaning we may be buying less players to fill out the squad as we have done in previous years it really is a good time to be a youth player at Spurs.

Keanan Bennetts
Thoughts on the game

“You saw the contrasting styles of the two teams, we scored three very well-worked goals and then conceded on the basics. On the set pieces we knew what to expect but we still weren’t good enough so that’s the biggest disappointment for us. Set pieces are part of football so it’s important for us as young players to grasp how important they are. We put in a bit of extra work on that but we’ve got to do it in the games because it wasn’t good enough today.”

On his two assists from left-back
“The assists were good. Going forward I always find it easier. Defensively I think I should have done better today but with the transition of positons, wherever the manager puts me I need to play to the best of my ability. Whenever I’m playing at left-back I think I need to defend better but obviously attacking-wise I’m always confident on the ball so I expect that of myself. In football you’ve got to be adaptable, so being able to play in different positions only benefits you. It’s a way to develop further.”

On the goals we scored
“We’ve got great attacking players here, the competition for places is so tough. There were no surprises there for me when our strikers do it in training every day, scoring those types of goals.”

I’d rather concentrate Bennetts as an attacking player. We are fine at LWB with 3 options. He certainly looks a cut above georgiou. And he’s doing it every game now.Surprised he didn’t get an England call up.

It can hurt for him to develop his defensive side. Looking at our current team, he's more likely to break in as a LWB than a LW and depending on what happens with Rose, he's probably the most athletic and natural left footed stand in.

not the best of itks but gets some info from BEN i think:
eduardosmartez on bennets: I've heard his development has put us off Ryan Sessegnon and that he will be one of the next pushing their way up the ladder

So pleasing to hear other fans also say this and not just, buy all the best players, competition only makes players better, rhetoric.

I believe he is a better attacker than Sessegnon, especially as his final ball is improving. Defensively Sessgnon is better though, but then I also prefer Bennetts as a winger, but this would imply they want to continue to use him as a LWB.

Bit confused with our transfer/ youth promotion.
Kwp looks the most ready of our youth products yet we brought aurier and he has little chance of 1st team action, when it was the perfect opportunity to integrate him into the team

Very simple answer we have a few poor players that we use often playing at the back and when they play you know we are going to concede goals mostly from the same type of mistake.
I suppose your right as i never watch youth football but when I see the results the amount of goals and games we lose seems a big amount.

IMO Aurier will become our main RB and we will move Trippier on with KWP taking his place.

No idea why I thought Bennetts was 20 lol.Wow he’s even more of a prospect than I thought then.Lot of physicality for 18,another beast.
