Id personally wanna keep kane, dier and dele well away from this game, but my guess is that kane will wanna play and add to his goal tally against limited opponents.

Really hope winks starts, trippier too

I'd have no qualms Alli starting this considering his various bans and form.

Quite why Southgate would go with Ox at RWB rather than Trippier is fucking baffling but not overly bothered if he doesn't get game time here.

There is a consensus of opinion that now England have qualified for the World Cup we shall see them play in a much more relaxed and adventurous style tonight with the 'shackles off' as it were. I am not entirely convinced this will be the case ....what do you think. Will we see a totally different, exciting and carefree approach ...or will it be a repeat of the last game when Harry once again had to come to the rescue ??

If the lineup bandied around in the papers is correct then why the fuck is Kane starting this?

Why the fuck is Henderson still in the team? May as well just stick a dustbin in the centre circle and get the centre backs to play 1-2s with it.

Winks should be given a shot. Henderson is too afraid of playing the ball forwards and that's not good when you're playing alongside Dier.

Would try:

Butland
Trippier Keane Cahill Bertrand
Dier
Winks Henderson
Alli
Kane Sturridge
Dier dropping into defence with wing backs advancing up the pitch.

Take the 4 or 5 Spurs [layers out of the England team and it is unlikely they would have qualified. Many of England's goals and assists came from THFC players in this campaign. Looking around the EPL. Those players who actually get game time with the top clubs can't beat the Spurs players to getting in to the starting line ups which suggests there is little talent available to the England manager.

If they can't turn up and turn it on when it matters in 'must win' games, it matters little if they are more relaxed and play better in non important games imo. They need to address why they put in these, in my opinion, unacceptable performances. Is it the players, the tactics, the manager? It needs sorting if they want to progress to the KO stages and not just rely on Harry to carry them with his goals.

Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales seem to be able to punch above their weight. This year the perennial loser, Scotland, is making a fist of it.. I seems i t is about time the England team got a bit of fire in their belly and followed suit,

For the U17's sancho has just scored his 2nd with a great finish.

Optimistic I know but I really hope we have some kind of Zeki Fryers type agreement about his transfer. Real shame if we had the chance and turned it down. So much potential

He chose Dortmund, not much we could do about it. Dortmund was a good choice for him IMO.

They would be better off getting someone like Bielsa or Sampaoli in and trying to emulate a nation like Chile, who have overcome a deficiency in personnel quality with a ferocious work ethic and blitzkrieg football.

This won't work, it works with Chile for two reasons, one is everyone in South America plays this fast paced football it's inherent in the culture. The second is that Chile play good opposition almost every international outing. So they have to be at their best to win.

England play rubbish teams.

I agree with you more with the pressing type game, if they just played the Spurs way, they should be better, like we were against Germany.

If I was the manager I would try playing Dier, Winks, Dele and Kane to see if they can bring some of their club understanding to the side. Impossible to play with freedom when people don't understand or trust each other's game

No - more the "Dembele" role - responsible for moving the ball forward, less defensive responsibility - but not "no defensive responsibility"

Accepting that he recovers injury and form, I still don't think Barkley is good enough off the ball to play in the centre.

The only two players that can play that role is Delph and Winks, both of which need to have a good (injury free season) to do it, and even then we need to play Lallana as well.

The only other player who could do it is Dele but then it all goes a bit Sven.

I want to play 3 at the back but, apart from Cahill and Stones we are incredibly light at CB.

It's the same problem we had with Hodgson when he put Wiltshire in there. We just don't have the players.

I don't want Barkley (or Dier) as a CM, especially in a 2CM, but why an earth would you assume Barkley would be the DM out of him and Dier? Surely Dier would be?

Because to play in that position you still need to have defensive responsibilities, doesn't matter if he isn't the most defensive of the two and I wouldn't trust Barkley playing in that role.

Have to admit that I'd completely forgotten about Rashford. Probably because I think he's massively overrated.
Rashford has everything going for him except for an erratic (to put it mildly) shot. So basically the new, quicker Danny Welbeck.

If he can learn to just strike the ball consistently better he'll be an absolutely lethal player.
