Who was the tallish no. 8 who was just standing there and always passing back to Winks whenever Winks gave him the ball?
Henderson i think.

Stolen from twitter:

“How did you do that Harry?!”
“Do what?”
“What you did just there!!”
“I passed forward Jordan...”

whoa. Actual passes.

The bit that sums up the way England play was Winks beating a Lithuania player to the ball, turning and passing to Rashford on the edge of the box who then miscontrols and loses the ball. The back and forths with Henderson were similar. One can control and pass, the other just stops the ball and kicks it back.

The few rare occasions Henderson did pass it forward, it ballooned horribly out of play.

Great debut Winksy very proud of you Son, but how the fuck does Henderson get in that team?

Also on a scale between 1 & Jordon Henderson, how shit is Alex Oxlade Chamberlaine?

Oxtail-Chambermaid is the same level of shitness as Henderson.

Another British player whose career has never taken off since joining Arsenal.

Should had started Dier.
Southgate is wrong on so many levels but I thought even he would understand that playing Dier alongside Winks with a back three would give Winks the platform to go forward. In addition playing with players who understand your game and know your strengths would most likely give the manager a better chance to see what Winks could do.

I think in the case for yesterday's game you had both henderson and Kane who want to be England captain so both played trying to convince Southgate to give them the nod, so I think that's why they both played the game, otherwise I'm sure Southgate would have rotated more.

Or maybe we are too good nowadays that player of his quality can't start regularly with us yet.

I think he will be starting more and more, especially in matches where we are going to control a lot of the ball. A year from now, I think the question will be about who is going to pair with Winks not whether Winks is going to play.

What I love about him, if you can see he is still playing within himself. It's as though he doesn't want to run before he can walk but conversely doesn't want to take zero risks. He seems to be building up his performances slowly and I suspect he will try more riskier things each time he plays. All we need to do is get Dier, Winks and Onomah as England regulars and we're sorted.

1 summer with England will beat it out of him.

Ha. Would have to be a hypothetical match where there would be two Kane's, two Alli's etc...
Interesting point. Do we have a foreign firsteamer that we'd be able or want to replace with an English player? I'd take Walker back, short term, but I'm struggling after that.

Really? Do you really believe that?
