Hola

I thought it was time to see where people are congregating/drinking/perpetuating the stereotype of English hooliganism before the game on Tuesday.

I'm staying near plaza de sol and I think it's a short metro ride to the Stadium.

It's my first European jolly so fairly excited!

Madrid is a great city even without the footy! Loads of bars and tapas around Sol, it's the best part of Madrid for this kind of thing. I'm sadly not going to this one but I'd say most people will probably congregate there or near by before heading up. Before the game there is a bar called the Irish Rover just next to the ground. Has an upstairs area that has an outside bit and great for sitting in the sun having a beer.

I'm combining the match with a city break with the wife. We're staying at the Barceló Emperatrix which I think is in the Salamanca district, not that far from the stadium.

Loads of bars and tapas around Sol meh... granddad told me that you don't know a city unless you've been to a few whorehouses.

There's Sala Private 25 minutes by cab from the stadium. Bombon is another interesting place. May as well fuck those Madrileño on and off the field with Harry Kane Esquire delivering the estocada when he pops Ronaldo's cherry.

Behave or you might not get to see the game at the Bernabeu
if at all.
Tensions are high in Spain at the moment
because of the Catalonia situation
and the police as many of you know
are edgy at the best of times.
Plaza Mayor quite close to the Puerta Del Sol
is the traditional gathering place
for both fans and police.
The Irish Rover though close to the stadium is normally a safe place to gather
before and after the game.

Might not need to go shopping for souvenirs after a visit to some of those

I prefer Barcelona over Madrid by a long way, it has more of a community feel, Madrid is run by conservatives which is another reason why I prefer Barcelona.

What do you reckon chances are of them actually refusing entry if your name doesn't match what's on the ticket? My friend didn't have enough LP points but one of our other group did who isn't going.

They've said in the past you will get checks along these lines, but it hasn't happened. But this time it seems to me a much more real threat. Most people I know are preparing for the checks to take place.

I have it on good authority that baby wipes work an absolute dream in removing the original name written on the ticket, and if left to dry overnight, you can then write the new name on without any trace of fiddling. But it would of course be totally inappropriate for me to suggest you attempt to do this. :sneaky:

The number of people doing this is amazing haha. Makes the whole ID check pointless in the first place.

Bloody typical. It's been 25+ degrees and sunshine for the past week, and then tomorrow and Wednesday it's going to piss it down.

Ah well. I'm sure I'll be seeing some of you lot for beers in the Plaza Mayor anyway. Tottenham till I'm dry.
