Unbelievable, Gustavo just banged in a fourth but what was Dante doing. Nice really have shot themselves up the arse in this game.

I wonder how many goals Neymar-Cavani-Mbappe will score this season..

Anyone see the Marcelo (Lyon) sending off from last weekend ? Comical. Ref gives yellow, the defender turns his back and does a kind of disgruntled shrug but just as he does the ref puts his hand with the card in downwards and the shrug hand of the defender catches the downward hand of the ref, knocking the yellow card out of the ref's hand and sending it spiralling into the air. The ref takes umbrage and produces a red for poor old Marcelo, for a complete accident that was as much the refs fault.

Lyon then go from 3-1 to 3-3.

Didn't see it but have heard about it on today's Pods.

What was your take on the end of the Nice v OM game?

I'm not sure I watched it all the way to the end, I've watched so much football this weekend I can't remember, why, what happened ?

After OM's 4th there is a straight red for Luis Gustavo on a tackle that he got all ball and made contact with the player a foot after clearing. Then a pen to Nice on a questionable foul/dive on st-Maximin was missed by Plea who incidentally was booked for diving earlier. But OM held out.

Shit no, I still have the game on sky planner, I stopped watching after it went 2-4, I'll dig it out and have a look.

Very good game on now, Lyon v Monaco. Lyon giving Monaco a bit of a game. Ndombele has been very impressive, powerful, athletic but with good feet, passes and moves well with the ball too. Liking what I’m seeing of him so far. Mendy the Lb looks and plays very much like his 50m name sake.

Have fun watching the rest. Considering the BCS-TC I won't spoil anything. Good stuff though. Ligue 1 refs are horrid though.

Boom. What a finish. You weren't wrong. Another great night for my boy Fekir, two goals and a quality assist, so unlucky to have the other one chalked off too, sweet finish. Thoroughly deserved for Lyon, who were by far the better side.

Good performances all over the pitch for a young Lyon. The young kid Aouar (19) did well, Ndombele (20) definitely looks one to keep an eye on, Mendy (22) looks promising as well. Diakhaby (20) is also starting to look like a very promising CB. Even Tete looked pretty decent. On a side note, never understood why Newcastle were happy to play some of the clowns they did at CB over the last few seasons but fucked off Yanga-Mbiwa, never quite top drawer, but a fuck sight better than some of the idiots Newcastle kept.

Great and fitting end to that match. I agree that Lyon deserved that. 3 posts and missed point blank header. So young, so promising are Lyon. I kinda think Everton are going to get hammered in Lyon next week. It is going to be a huge disparity in team pace. Lyon of course do not look watertight at the back. And it was interesting to see Remi Garde in the crowd. Genesio can't be comfortable with that.

Aouar does look to have something. Was really impressed with him. He can carry it or pass it and he really does have the touch of a proper midfielder. Ndombele also looks good but over-elaborated in dangerous places in the 2nd half. Don't know if it was fatigue or indecision but he took more time that he will get were he to step up. Tete I have yet to be impressed with, at Ajax or Lyon. Definitely more intrigued by Mendy. La Havre has had and continues to have one hell of a production line.

I remember Yanga-Mbiwa showing decent promise at Newcastle. Pards seemed to give him opportunities but after a couple clangers he was never really seen again. Was surprised when he popped up at Roma.

Edit: do you think Fekir would do the defensive work that Poch demands?

I agree about Ndombele, his play got more ragged as the game went on, but he is just 20, and it was a pretty energetic game, that's a couple of looks I've had of him now, and I think if he can dust up his decision making a little he's got some great qualities, powerful and tenacious but can play a bit too.

Yang-Mbiwa was damn good at Montpellier when they won the title, he's not foot perfect, but he was better than just about every CB Newcastle had at the time.

That's the big question mark over Fekir isn't it? I would have reservations for sure, but lets be honest, he's no lazier than someone like Alli is he, and on the ball he's a shit load better than Alli. I would hope Poch could get him grafting a bit better, and the best thing about him is he can play anywhere in the front four, he finished that game tonight playing as a striker pretty much. So he could be competition and rotation for Alli, Eriksen and Kane. I'd take him ahead of Barkley but I can see why Barkley's on the radar because he can cover Eriksen and Alli, if not Kane and I think (fear is a better word) that Poch also thinks Barkley can cover CM.

Any opinions on Mariano Diaz?

I have only seen him a couple of times but he's a livewire for sure. Decent technique, buzzes about, in and out the area, and has scored a few gaols so far, scored against Monaco last week if I remember correctly, after a good bit of work by Fekir, darting in close out.
