Looking for some bargains in this crazy market and those with contracts ending at the end of the season:

Pre-contracts in January?

Messi........sorry just had to point it out

Jose Giminez from Atletico - likely to go to a Utd or City but pretty good from what I've seen of him, he's young, and he has a bit of the Dier flexibility in him in that he can play in midfield or as a RB if needed.

Stefan De Vrij from Lazio - not sure he's the Poch type of defender so not overly keen

Leon Goretzka from Schalke - don't know much about this one but he's young and a German international so I'm guessing he has his uses - anyone got an insight on him?

Max Mayer also form Schalke - I like this kid, saw him in a few U21s for Germany a few years ago and he looked bright. Haven't seen him recently so not sure how he has progressed but very young still and could be an interesting addition to the front 3?

Bernard from Shakhtar - remember him from a few years ago, a fair few on here wanted him. Not sure he adds enough and would personally prefer Mayer but he's available...

also mostly past it or not what we need Joao Moutinho ........Andres Iniesta........Balotelli (just saying).....Robben....Ribery....Hatem Ben Arfa....Kwadwo Asamoah

Interesting how many Prem players are coming to the end of their contracts too, Utd and Arsenal risk losing a fair amount of investment for nothing at the end of the season (not saying we should pick any of them up but you'd think if they wanted rid they would have done more in the past window - this doesn't happen under Levy)

Barkley obviously
Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal
Ozil - Arsenal
Wilshere - Arsenal
Santi Cazorla - Arsenal
Juan Mata - Utd
Andre Herrera - Utd
Daley Blind - Utd
Luke Shaw - Utd
Fellaini - Utd
Fernandinho - City
Emre Can - Liverpool

I would take Iniesta in an heart beat! He's still the best playmaker in the world.

Luke Shaw's extended his contract by a year (http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-United-Luke-Shaw-Contract-Deal-Transfer-News).

Free transfers don't really seem to be bargains anymore. The agent fees + signing bonus' get so inflated they become pretty much close to what the transfer fee would have been plus they often ask for larger wages than a regular transfer.

As for Leon Goretzka - It's rumoured Schalke have been recently offloading salary in order to give Goretzka a humongous new deal. Otherwise it appears he'll be off to Bayern who were mulling over whether to pay for the transfer this year or get him on a free next and it appears they've chosen the latter. I don't think anyone else has a chance really it's either stay or go to Bayern at this point.

Think we could do with an investment in an Eriksen backup, and I personal dont think Barkley will cut it. (Im happy to be proved wrong) So I tried to put in a list of creative 10/8 hybrids, that to my knowledge arent that widely known.
Want to apologies for some some horrendous exposure to dreaded yotube scouting videos with some very dodgy musically choices.

---------------------------------------------------------APP/G/A*all senoir club football stats
Lovro Majer/ Lokomotiva Zagreb/ 1998/174/38/8/14
Described as a mixture between Rafa Van der Vaart and Luka, any player compared to them two has to be quite the baller. He's predominately left footed but is comfortably with his right. Unfortunately I havent been able watch him live but he did win the young croatian talent award. Apparently Everton is interested but they got enough ten types.

Seb Szymanski/Legia Warsaw/1999/174/ 23/3/1
More of a most advance cm in a midfield 3, but been played as an am so far this season. Likes to recycle, spread and dictate play. He's been linked to pool.

Matias Zaracho/Racing Club/1998/169/6/1/
Next generation of argintine playmaker, he already has has 5 caps at the u-20 level. Argentina is a great football market that emmerce their players in a great football culture that encourage creative risk tasking, while installing a high work rate and desire. Admittly I've never seen him play, and there's isnt any highlight packages, so he's a reach and an unknown.

Lucas Rodriguez/Estudiates/1997/169/44/6/4
comes from a great academy, has a great natural talent. He's a bit raw, and is more of a dribbler then the others, and is always trying to play more direct ball to goal. He's a bit sloppy in posession but definately one to keep an eye on.

Carlo Cosap/Viitorul/1998/178/26/4/1
an all rounder coached up by gheorgie hagi, who wants to be on the ball as much as possible. he's blown his acl, but he's still got big things to come.

Olimpiu Morutan/Botosani/1999/171/35/2/4

Nedim Bajrami/Grasshoppers/1999/179/17/1/1
somebody to be aware off

I am by far not an authority on any of these players these are opinions I have formed from limited live games and some second hand sources. But I've done this because I like seeing where these players emerge from and if there talent was always evident.

Don't think we should go for him, he would cost big coin anyway, but keep an eye on 16 year old Pelegrí at Genoa. He is still very raw, went missing against Inter, but he is regularly starting for the Rossoblu and could have a very big career. Already has 2 in 4. But I would expect him to be very high on those "young footballers to watch" lists that come out every winter.

Jarrod Bowen, 20 years old at Hull is a player worth keeping tabs on. 7 goals in 11 games.
Very interesting. If you could expand on him could you share with us what type of player is he, what are the kind of goals does he score, how is his overall game, ect.

Another player I really like from the Championship is Ollie Watson, seems to have made the step up from league 2 very well, seems very dangerous all the time and has very good pace.

Being from MK and going to games and knowing this lad he’s a great talent.

Can play further forward too and got a bright future but to early for him to move imo

George Baldock who left MK for Sheff U In the summer would’ve been a good buy imo.

Like in the Primeira liga, the Eredivisie has been full of talents becoming top class players....yet also full of top class talents who never lived up their talent/press hype.
Steven Bergwijn looks like one of those top class prospects - but so did Depay and Quincy Promes (both are good players - but neither have so far lived up to their early promises). And then you have Adam Maher.

I remember our last venture into the Dutch market and we came back with Janssen.. I suspect that Levy is less receptive about gong back there again in a hurry

What about Sanchez? To be fair, I tend to agree with you, i am happy to keep mining Ajax (if there are players of a high potential) but really I would rather we look at Spanish or Portuguese prospects rather then Holland based players.

Most of the top talents from those countries are out of Spurs' budget. Besides, I believe the players in Primeira division are hyped up - partly because of an excellent marketing strategy by powerful, ruthless, greedy agents who're using Porto as a "breeding" ground for over-priced "commodities" (read: players).
I rather look for talents in Holland and France.

I agree with you re the Primeira but I disagree re Spain. Players in La Liga are actually pretty cheep unless they play for Barca, Real Or Atleti. All players in Spain have obligetory release clauses and none outside the top 3 have unfairly inflated ones. Players don't tend to sign contracts in La Liga for smaller clubs that have high release fees as it might dieter bigger clubs from signing them. For example, Madrid picked up Dani Cebellos, who was very good for Betis and one of Spain's big young talents, last summer for 18 mil euros. That is nothing in today's market. They also signed Theo Hernandez from Atleti, who has huge potential, for 24 mil Euros. On the lesser known spectrum, Monaco picked up Mboula for only 3 mil euros from Barca and he has big potential. I really don't see why we don't look at the Spanish league more thoroughly, Spain produces quality players that would suit our system and can be attained for cheep without dodgy agents that seem to flood the South American and Portuguese market.

Tammy Abraham with 5 in 10 for Swansea. No chance Chelsea would sell him to us but he's not going to get a look in there is he?

One to tap up anyway.

Ceballos?

(Not the one who we used to have but the one now at Madrid and not playing)

Barca also bid for Cebellos but he picked Real M. so there was no chance that Spurs could have gotten him. Same about Hernandez. Once one of the Big 3 clubs - Real M., Atleti and Barca - bids for a La Liga player Spurs are blown out of the water. And they find most - but not all - of the top talents, which leaves a few "left overs" for the rest of the teams.
Historically, the leagues France and Netherlands have been by far the best "suppliers" of top/world class player to the EPL.
This is another topic I am not going into here but I think the major reason is the "culture" and style of play fits more into the EPL, even though you may have a lots of top players in La Liga as well, but they seem less capable of adjusting to life in the EPL and also less eager to leave Espana.
