Great day at Wembley and not even the shambles of the transport system could put the dampeners on another Pochettino masterclass. When I saw the team I was totally surprised but the first twenty minutes were awesome

This is the same guy who in the summer, said that if Liverpool were to sell Coutinho they should just go and buy Dele Alli and Harry Kane from Spurs because, and I quote, 'they're obviously a selling club, they sold Gareth Bale didn't they?'
I literally spat coffee everywhere.
He's one of those pundits who's brain is still stuck the 80s.
1880s?

The only disappointment was not seeing Maradona on the pitch. I have to say he's the greatest player I've seen since I started watching football. I'm hoping he passes on his footballing wisdom to our players.

I keep saying that we need a trophy. That's not just because we have waited so long for one, it's not even to keep our players happy. It's because this team deserves one. They deserve to be remembered as greats.
Utd of last season didn't deserve two cups, we were better.
I don't want this team to be forgotten or thought of as also rans. They need silverware.

I saw him. One of the great things about my dad playing golf on saturdays was that i went to most midweek games, including testimonials.

I have a feeling we'll do the same to Manure. Then hear Maureen shirking all responsibility and claim that he cannot understand how his players can be so lax in their attitude.

Alan Shearer fears Harry Kane, Son Heung-min grabs Dele Alli's nose and Tottenham end Liverpool hoodoo: EIGHT things you may have missed from Tottenham 4-1 Liverpool
  • Tottenham recorded their first victory over Liverpool since November 2012
  • Alan Shearer is concerned that Harry Kane will beat his Premier League record
  • Dele Alli may not have been expecting to have his nose grabbed after scoring
  • Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip partnership finally breaks down away from home
By Tom Farmery For Mailonline

Tottenham's fascinating encounter with Liverpool produced five goals goals as Mauricio Pochettino's side came out on top at Wembley.

It was yet another demonstration of how ruthless Spurs can be even if Liverpool didn't give up at any point during the match.

And while you already know the raw facts, Sportsmail was on hand to bring you a number of things you may have missed from Sunday's late kick-off.

'He's coming for me.'

Harry Kane is a major concern for any Premier League defence. But also, it turns out, he's scaring the life out of strikers, too. Or former strikers, I should add.

Alan Shearer holds the record for Premier League goals - 260. And despite Kane only being on 86 after Sunday's game, the likelihood of the 24-year-old surpassing the former Newcastle striker's total before the end of his career is high.

It prompted Shearer, during the thrashing of Liverpool, to tweet: 'He's coming for me, he's coming for meeeeeee, @HKane he's coming for me! #260 #TOTLIV.'

Son's cheeky nose grab

Dele Alli''s strike for the third Tottenham goal was sweetly struck. He celebrated by throwing his arms back and running towards the home supporters.

But his team-mates weren't finished there. As Alli hugged striker Harry Kane, winger Son Heung-min grabbed the 21-year-old's nose.

The pair of them are very close friends at Spurs and you did wonder if Alli would have returned the gesture if Son had got his second of the afternoon before he was substituted.

Lovren and Matip's horror show

It was a partnership that had meant to be so strong. Indeed, until now Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip, when playing together in central defence, hadn't been involved in a Liverpool defeat away from home.

Certain weaknesses had been exposed before but not in the same way. Lovren was substituted shortly after the half hour mark but not before he had made two errors that led to Tottenham's first two goals.

Matip didn't do much better, particularly for the third goal when his weak clearance was slammed into the back of the net by Dele Alli.

Coutinho's scoring run dries up

If there is one man Liverpool would want in their side every week it's Philippe Coutinho.

He provides the Reds with creativity and, importantly, goals. He'd also started to get into the habit of scoring away from home. In fact he had scored in all of Liverpool's last four away games before the trip to Wembley.

That run dried up on Sunday as he struggled in front of goal at Wembley. The closest he came was with a left-footed effort that required a fantastic save by Hugo Lloris to deny him.

Trippier is Kane's best friend

There was a suggestion when Kyle Walker left to join Manchester City that Tottenham wouldn't be able to provide as good a service from the right flank for Harry Kane.

That concern has quickly evaporated this season as Kieran Trippier has shown he is more than capable of being Tottenham's main wing back.

He also enjoys a healthy relationship with Kane on the pitch. He's assisted the striker on seven occasions in the Premier League in 2017 - more than any other Spurs player.

Nine games and out

Not only was this an important victory for Tottenham it was also a historic one.

It was the first time Tottenham had beaten Liverpool in all competitions since November 2012 when Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon scored in a 2-1 win.

It's unlikely they will go so long again without a win - at least for the next few seasons or so.

Kane's first Premier League goal at Wembley

Four league games at Wembley and no goals.

Nobody was ever going to worry too much but for those who were starting to wonder if Harry Kane would ever score a league goal at the national stadium they needn't fret any longer.

After collecting Kieran Trippier's pass, Kane dinked the ball over Simon Mignolet before showing composure to pass into an open net in the opening stages. He got his second of the game after 56 minutes.

Premier League attendance record broken

It was going to happen eventually. Sunday's attendance at Wembley - 80,827 - set a new record for a Premier League attendance.

It beats the previous record of 76,098, which was set by Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2007.

The home supporters on Sunday certainly got value for money.

I think neville said in commentary that spurs had been the best team for the past two seasons but were unable to win the league, at some point that will change and a trophy or two will come our way.

That's not his good job though for England. He gave Liverpool no direction in the centre of that midfield. Winks was miles ahead in quality

That wasn't the question you asked.

Winks has just come back from injury and is only now starting for us regularly. He's instantly been put in the England team. Not much more Southgate can do no?

Previously, he wasn't available and the other options are shonky, so I can see why Henderson is there. I'm not happy about it but England are not overflowing with centre mid options

That pass for their goal?

And what else did he do? But really, I'm not just talking about this one match. I've struggled to understand what he brings to the England team for some time now. He doesn't really tackle, he doesn't go past a man, he doesn't carry a goal threat and his passing is incredibly conservative. Dier does the sitting job with the added bonus that he can drop into defence and not look out of place.

Well, I can't say I've seen a lot of him, and your take is kind of how I perceive him.

He has more MOTMs for Liverpool than Dier for Spurs, according to WhoScored. Dier has a sub-7 average rating for the last 3 seasons for Spurs, whereas Henderson regularly has above 7.

He's got 15+ goals/assists combined once, 10+ twice. Seems an all rounder. Passes a bit, tackles a bit, sits a bit.

Proper team, proper manager, real deal. I'm 43 and this is the best team I've seen. COYS
I'm 44 today and I would agree (although the '86/87 team were good too). I was pulled in by the '81 Cup Final and have had to put up with some really poor football over the previous 36 years. Poch and the boys have put a spring on my step on this birthday morning.

Think Winks may have just skipped past Dier in the midfield pecking order, especially if we win today.

Hope we have:

---------Winks----------
Eriksen---------Dele--
---------------------Son
----------Kane---------

Quite tight as a CM three.

Will be interesting, think we'll beat them today.

Might have been OTT regarding Winks, but personally I like him at DM more than Dier (potentially).

I've been waiting for that tactical masterclass against Liverpool for some time over the last 3 seasons or so. I've long thought that if we could tactically invite them onto us and hit them really hard on the counter we could reap massive gains because they have been that defensively vulnerable for some time, and its frustrated me for some time that other teams have found a way of doing it over the past 3 years and we've failed miserably up until now.

I believe that it finally dawned on Poch that we could do it after that Dortmund game. He knew that this nemesis hold they had over us couldn't go on much longer without questions being asked about whether he was ever going to manage it against them.

In every way possible he deserves huge credit for deploying specific tactics effectively to deal with two potentially dangerous opponents this week. The critics in the media etc were probably thinking this time last week that they'd be lazily writing and mouthing off the same old headlines about us had things gone badly for us and we'd lost both those games.

As HK said, it doesn't get any easier as the tough games keep coming. Bring them on I say, take a bow Poch take a bow!!! You have made us all walk taller, the players deployed have also stepped up and executed these plans magnificently.

Was at the game yesterday and it was fantastic.
I think the most pleasing and frankly important thing to come out of the last 2 games and BD match is that you can see Poch and the team have learnt. We now play to suit the opposition. We don't play a high line against fast counter attacking teams leaving acres of space in behind for them to simply lob the ball ott and run onto. Poch seems to have realised, unlike the vast majority in todays game, that possesion is NOT king, it's what you do with it that counts.
For me that is a mammoth step forward.
It's a shame its taken until now to get there as watching every single pl team play right into Leicesters hands 2 seasons ago was incredibly frustrating and beyond belief really.
At least we now look the finished article and won't be doing that sort of thing anymore even if every other team is lol.
Like Klopp and Wenger for example. They can only play 1 way. They both have problems at the back, same as last season, and yet neither did anything about it. Must drive their fans nuts. Its like bloody groundhog day.
We capitulated at end of season when Leicester won. The next season we absolutely stuffed everyone in our last fixtures.
We played a high line against Liverpool and got nailed for a few seasons. This season we beat them at their own game and stuffed them.
That's progress. A coach and team that learns from its mistakes and adapts accordingly. What a novel idea lol.
We're so lucky to have Poch.
And the way he deals with the media and the passion he shows....
