I must admit I was a little surprised when Koeman came to England with a pretty decent reputation despite the fact he's never really convinced in his previous roles. Whilst he has won the Eredivisie three times I don't think he was ever really regarded as a brilliant coach/manager and he's disappointed a fair few times in the past. Did he really benefit at Southampton from the foundations that Poch laid?

Yeah, Koeman's reputation got overhyped at Southampton. His career before that had a rather patchy player-turned-journeyman-coach feel to it. There were also signs of flakiness in all his club-hopping, which goes to the question of his emotional commitment to any of his jobs.

All in all, not really the man to bet the house on.

Rooney now has 100 yellow cards in the premier league. He's second on the all time list. That's more than Wise, Viera, Savage, Cattermole & Keane. He's a striker.

They actually have some good young players in their squad but the business they did in the summer didn't address the goals they sold to United in Lukaku.

Lacking confidence, lacking goals and lacking any real organisation at the moment. Koeman is running out of time, if he hasn't already to be fair.

Top four in the championship if they're not careful. Why oh why did they not buy a decent striker?

Koeman sacked.

Wonder whether this will have any bearing on Barkley in Jan? My feeling is, even if Moyes goes back, Barkley's decision is made, and Poch's phonecall to him on deadline day sealed the deal.

Yeah I think that ones in the bag personally, the fact that we're progressing as a team and individuals makes me think he'll be even more keen.
They must have someone lined up, suppose Moyes is favourite.

Unless they've somehow got Ancelotti or a similarly successful manager lined up I can't see the point in sacking Koeman, especially if the best replacement you can manage is Moyes. Sacking De Boer hasn't exactly turned things around for Palace. Surely they would have been better off giving Koeman a chance to get through this rough patch and for his team to gel?
