Don't agree with that, he made a smart stop and was unlucky in who it fell to.

As I said, I'm much less impressed that Poch doesn't think his teams should bother marking someone on the edge of the box waiting for the second ball. That's how you stop that goal being scored.

as a keeper if you can't hold it, you need to parry it to a less dangerous area.

never noticed other teams marking a man outside the box on a corner in case it happens to fall to them. seen many an occasion last season Vertoghen, even Kane taking shots from just outside.

at the end of the day it's another trophy we can't win this season, and until they got the 1st goal they never looked even dangerous. we never got out of 1st gear, not even when we were 3-2 down. if we were serious about it we would of fielded a stronger 11, even against a struggling premiership team.

a trophy is important to us fans, but as a club the carabao cup isn't, it's important to try and finish top 4 while the stadium is being paid for. we don't have the resources to be able to field a full team for every single comp.

The best of Sissoko yesterday was truly really good. The goal was incredibly perfect, and he showed great skill when he let himself use the first touch to pass the ball to someone. Sadly, along with the rest of the team, his performance dropped and what looked like something that could be a truly impressive performance ended up in much of muchness. But his best minutes yesterday were simply spot on.

The team in general, that was amateuric. Not the loss itself, I don't care. But not being able to keep a 2-0 lead at home, that is simply unforgivable nonsense. I thought the entire team lost it's shape. For a long while, it looked like we were playing with 2 CBs and 8 midfielders, clustering about and trying their hardest not to look interested in the match. it was a disgraceful collapse of tactics and investment.

My MOTM goes to the outside of Llorentes feet, though. Those outsides are capable of magic.

Oh well, I'm not massively fussed with the Caravan Cup anyway. I just remember the last time we won it and what happened next. Obviously I'd love the league title, FA Cup or even...gasp...the Champions League but genuinely couldn't give a threepenny fuck about this one. I just wanted a decent performance, which didn't really happen. And I don't see the point in GNK; a seemingly nice chap but out of his depth in our squad

Vorm had to get down low and make a sharp save from a well struck shot. Yes it would have been nice for him to parry it further wide but you don't always get absolute perfection or have that in your control as the keeper. You need some luck or defenders helping out with the second ball.

As a kid you get taught man-marking at corners, and that includes picking up at the edge of the box for the second ball. Somewhere at professional level and in zonal marking this concept has been lost for some reason... It could be us, or the opposition, benefiting from it, I just will not ever agree with it and I think it's an exceptionally soft way to concede a goal and shouldn't happen at professional level. I can guarantee 99.9% of you wont give a shit about it, fair enough, but for me these are the small margins we can control and are often the fine line at the top level - deciding FA Cup semi finals for instance.....

I agree Vorm could have perhaps done better but t's difficult to know how much of the ball, or how late he saw it in order to react in time. The issue was the outfield players failing to react and deal with the second ball. Sometimes things like this happen and it's not an individuals mistake but the fault of the collective failing to be positionally correct as a group, and then having to much ground to cover in oreder to react to the second ball. What I would say though is no one seemed to know who was picking up who, or what zone they were responsible for covering. Making three changes from our regular back four(3 CB's and the GK) was an issue when defending set pieces. That is down to the coaching team in a large part as far as match preparation is concerned.

Tbh I thought it was a foul on Davies. Clearly got pushed and due to that played everyone on side. If he went down he would’ve got the foul.

On Vorm it looked very powerful and saw it late so probably did just about what he could.

Alli has to be the worst player you could ever have receive the ball on the counter.

Absolutely will not pass, just slowly bumbles the ball forwards with it right under his feet, until a defender finally stands him up and takes the ball right off his foot, because Dele doesn't even actually move to either side - just carries on in a straight line refusing to pass until he falls over.

He's like the anti-Bale.

Love Alli and will usually defend him, but agree with this and it is very frustrating. Particularly when he actually is a very good passer of the ball when he chooses to do it. Also, with his finishing ability I don't see why he doesn't release the ball quicker on the counter so he can then receive it back in the danger zone.

Dele has so much talent but he needs to sinmplify his game and learn to choose his moments, also bulk up a bit wouldn’t go amiss.

I’d say they were on about 50% effort that match.Somehow we went 2-0 up West Ham were that poor.Very much like the Newcastle 5-1. Just shows how much of the game is about effort and not Little flicks.

I’m not the one who’s ratings post only contained a homage to one player?

Lol homage? Sissokko was our best player but everyone was pretty poor.

As per usual you just see what you want to see, and twist, twist twist!

Strange coincidence that this game
was on the eve of the release of the 'conspiracy' papers
on the assassination of JFK.
Complete team failure here, motorcade break down
allowing assassin to get his shots away.

W.Ham didn't turn up for the first half
and we got a couple.
We didn't turn up for the second
they got one more than us.

I'm even going to suggest that Sissoko's goal was a fluke.
He is incapable of finding that near side gap
and get the ball just inside the post.
Complete miskick obviously.
Misread his instructions.

If this wasn't a conspiracy then God help us.
JFK and Elvis still living in a little known room in the West Wing.

There also seems a section(mostly you) that might as well write up their assessment of Sissoko pre-match and just post it as your post match analysis. He was better than all the others imo last night, and I'm not saying he was great or anything because he didn't need to be to be our best player in that display. You did this exact same thing with Walker until he left for a world record fee for a full back. Should he be starting when everyone is available? No, but has he of late been playing anywhere near as badly as you make out? No where near.

Funnily enough Trix, there is also a section of fans who are keen to over-emphasise the very basic things that Sissoko does. In the past week there has been fantastic, excellent and dynamic all used as words to describe him. It's like he is being judged on a different plane to everyone else and like a kid playing football, you congratulate them for not fucking up or tripping over their laces.

He's been less of a chaos zone as previous (which would be hard), but that doesn't constitute good.

BC has his quirks but on Sissoko, he is hardly in a minority or agenda driven.

He basically has one use and that is when we are playing counter attacking and he can gallop into wide open space.

Isn't that what you did though? I said his run and finish were decent, but he, along with the rest of the midfield and team were not great? I criticised all of them pretty much.

What you actually seemed to take umbrage with was not me criticising Sissoko unduly, because I didn't, it was criticising some spurs fans for their disproportionate appraisal and praise of is actual contribution(s) recently.

Dier worst performance in a Spurs shirt and that's coming from someone who usually loves the guy.

Perhaps it's just your posting style, but you have the same effect on me as Glastonspur seems to have on Red Café.
