Was Sanchez injured? Is Lloriente any better than Jansen? I am pissed :(

Dier was having a great game until the goal, then made two mistakes at once (played Martial onside + not even close to sharp enough, against a runner that he should have seen coming).

Winks was very tidy, maybe missed 1 or 2 passes. Would love to see his pass success rate.

Very frustrating game. Eriksen was off today and Alli had one of his diving ineffective nothing performances. Loris also a little dodgey especially by foot.

Would we have conceded that goal if Sanchez played CB instead of Dier ? probably not.

Good: Toby, Davies, Winks
Good except for the goal: Dier, Jan
Average: Everyone else
Poor: Nobody

EDIT: Brede Hangeland on Norwegian TV with an analysis that highlights Jan mostly at fault for the goal - he's ahead of the line Dier and Toby have set and Martial slips in the space between him and Dier. So I'm blaming both for that, still think Dier would've cleared if he was aware enough.

Do you understand football? How was that Dier's fault when Martial came from where Vertonghen was meant to be goal side. But don't let the fact certain players can do no wrong however good they are!

I think Winks got a bit sloppy towards the end. Did well for 80 minutes, but perhaps the number of minutes he has been getting of late maybe taking it's toll a little bit? He is very young and we have played a lot in the last few weeks. Dele and Sissoko were poor today I thought so the MOTM has to go to one of the defenders. Gave it to Toby in the end but it was close between him Davies for me.

Vertonghen was massively at fault for the goal too, he was never goal side at any point - so if the ball had been flicked at an angle the other side in front of Dier we were probably in as much trouble. And that wasn't the only time he was guilty of not being around on the cover, there were a couple of other times also (a Rashford through ball off the near touchline being one of those). It wasn't good from any of our centre backs really. Lost header - Taken out of the game - Asleep and not goal side ready to cover.

Dele has been having a fairly ordinary season. Like playing with 10 men sometimes

Dier and Jan were immense until the goal. Eriksen poor again but deserved an assist for pass to Alli. Frustrating to lose against such a crap man u side.

Probably because he didn't react and strolled back, any urgency or Awareness and he clears the danger.

Dier was clearly man of the match imo

For the goal Verts never tracked the runner.

Good: Dier, Toby, Aurier
Okay: sissoko, Lloris, Verts, Davies, Son
Poor: Winks, Dele, Eriksen
Pointless: Llorente

Sick. With the result, but also with that second half display. We did so well in the first hand pressing them high, then we just retreated, running scared second half. The goal was an abomination, Alderweireld was too easily by Lukaku to the header for the second time in a matter of minutes and Die, who had played well, made Martials life equally easy. Nothing either Lloris or Vertonghen could have done.

I think Lukaku deliberately attached himself to Alderweireld second half after Vertonghen had him in his pocket first half.

Lloris, awful distribution, one great save, one spill, rushed off his line well.

Alderweireld was poor, struggled in situations he used to dominate.

Dier was playing very well but was pathetic on the goal.

Vertonghen was good, some good tackles and imperious in the air.

Aurier got into great attacking positions but did nothing with them, he was fine defensively.

Sissoko was poor, everything broke down when it reached him, too many heavy touches.

Winks was our best player first half, everything positive went through him but second half he looked leggy and became less composed.

Davies didn’t do anything of note in either direction, positively or negatively.

Dele was one of our better threats, worked hard too but was selfish when he should have played Son in first half and wrongly chose his right when his left foot would have slotted home that lovely Eriksen pass.

Eriksen was sloppy by his standards, has been for a few weeks, but he was still our most likely to create and deserved an assist for the pass of the match to Dele. Great tracking back when Lingard was through.

Son was okay but had very little to attack and was easily crowded out of the game.

Llorente must be wondering if we’ll ever cross the ball to him. Needs to be stronger when he gets the ball to feet, dispossessed too easily.

Dembele gave us more control in the middle but we were well on the back foot by then. Should have started.

Pochettino’s decisions all made sense to me, pre and in match. You could question Dier over Sanchez but until the goal Dier played well. However, you have to wonder why we keep seeing Llorente introduced and not receiving crosses, surely that needs the manager to give better instructions.
