it wasn't the whole clubs fault we lost a 2 goal lead. yes there is a possibility that Poch told them not to over do it, but going by his mood after I doubt it. your right about the fans, had that game been at WHL it would of been a sell out, and yes your right about fans saying about hoping we would lose because the cup is not as important, but that's a very small %. I wanted us to win, but not at the expense of a league position, and i'll admit it now the only thing I'm angry about is the way we went out.

not sure you have noticed we have to play 10 fixtures in December, 9 in the League and 1 very important game in the CL, so not having to field a very strong team in between 2 tough away trips in hope of getting to the semi's has worked out a bit of a blessing. yes winning a trophy builds a winning mentality but as a few have pointed out, it never did us any favours the last time we won it.
We have a better manager and a better team than we did then. We are aiming to win the league but the best teams are competitive in all competitions, playing a lot of games is a good problem to have not a bad one, it means being in the mix to win something.

Do we seriously count the Charity Shield as a trophy ?

We are much more likely to hold on to our top players by finishing 2nd or 3rd and making progress in the CL with no trophy heading into the new stadium than we would have by winning the League Cup and finishing 5 th.

I'd love for Spurs to play in the Charity Shield every year.

Ten years, zero trophies. And now by the end of October we're down to the FA Cup with our reserves, or the Champions League (year, right). Make that eleven. Not good enough.

That’s the league ... to win cups and the league you need to win big games
Even in the cups you just need to take them seriously and have a bit of luck.

These are the bastions of footballing talent Manchester United had to defeat to lift a European trophy last season:

Fenerbache
Feyernoord
Zorya Luhansk
Saint-Étienne
Rostov
Anderlecht
Celta Vigo
Ajax

We could have done the same, if we wanted. And we need to. You need that winning mentality to keep players happy, to take the pressure off when you're close to the bigger trophies, to make winning a habit rather than a dream. Not to mention it's ultimately what we all want to see from the club.

You don't even need to win big games that often, as Mourinho shows. You need to draw them, and be consistent against the rest.

I'd rather we lose a game trying to win than lose trying to scrape a draw. At least if you're trying to win there's a chance you may succeed!!

Of course you would, but that's not the way the game was going. United had had a couple of big chances, including hitting the post, and were clearly the more threatening side at that point. In a six-pointer away from home that's the stage where you cut your losses and take the draw. We don't have their squad depth to bring on players like Martial costing ridiculous money, but we have to play smart around that.

League title off the list and we're not winning the CL so all about the FA Cup now. Still optimistic if we can make a couple of signings in January.

Having said that there's probably more chance of us winning the CL than signing anyone in January.

FA Cup this year has to be the one. Has to.

That and top 4 will take us nicely into NWHL next season.

Not so much a case of if we wanted more of we just never do.

Yes, but we don't. We would never had won all those games. We would have slipped up somewhere or had some hilarious disaster. Remember, we'd been in the Europa League for years and years without making any impression on the tournament.
We must prioritise a win in one of the minor cups. A win in the FA Cup this year would be absolutely massive for us and give us the confidence to push on in the bigger comps. Someone have a word with Poch!

I don’t believe we’ll win a cup this year. Under Poch must I assume that we will win things if he stays - but I think not this year

i think Pochs record in the cups is awful, i think we have only won 2 games against premier teams in the cup since he started and lost about 7, in that time we have also nearly gone out to Sheff united and Wycombe
