I wouldn't disagree that it's a weakness at the back - and also particularly at defending set pieces (but that's another topic). I don't think you can expect to win every header, but there should definitely have been a better challenge.

Ultimately it's a poor goal to concede all round and if we're talking a good game about competing for titles it's not good enough to concede like that. In these crunch games we simply have to aspire to be better than that. Even in games we have got good results in recently, Madrid and Liverpool, we've seen that if you switch off and have a soft bit of play (losing the ball in our half twice needlessly) then you get normally get punished at the top level in brutal fashion. What we have to do as a team is take that step from doing everything right 98-99% of the game to as damn near 100% as possible.
Considering the height we have in the team such as dier, Sanchez , Toby and vertonghen it's amazing how we cannot deal with balls into the box.
Against West ham midweek and in the league we were simply woeful and are always second to everything, the question is why when we have a coach who is so attentive to detail that we are wanting in the basics.

I think the main mistake was taking Son off for Llorente. Lots of people are criticising Llorente (and have been all season), but it would work better with someone playing off him (i.e. Son, or Kane against Madrid), and also playing to his strengths (i.e. use him to link play, then move the ball quickly to full backs to cross for him, which we didn't do).

Criticising a player of his pedigree is just ignorance.
I would have taken off Alli for Llorente.

I disagree. We lost but we played well away to United without a few important players. Kane and Sanchez may be back and Dembele might get a start in the RM game.

A draw would have been a fairer result today. We were not hammered by United. We gave them a game and at times, we were the better side.
A draw would of been nice but they always looked likely to snatch the winner and so it proved, we were not the better side mate we lacked the belief to win.

Spot on most fans keep on forgetting we never played in the CL forget that I can't remember the last time we played in Europe, I was happy finishing in the top 10.
Remember those days only too well. European football seemed a long way off never mind getting a point away at Madrid or being involved titles races.

Mad how if you're pissed off at a result against a rival you're having some sort of breakdown. Hope the management don't wash over these things and think it's early days in season. There is a deep rooted fundamental issue at the club that before its solved will stop us winning any major honours. This isn't a knee jerk response to one result it's a disease that no matter how good our starting 11 is or gets will hold us back until cured. There is a huge chance that our golden era in the PL will end with nothing to show for it, there's nothing positive to be taken from that.

You aren't allowed to have any complaints or criticism - didn't you get the memo?

If you're disappointed in any way then you're forgetting how good you've got it - we had 2 points from 8 games at one point don't forget - where were you 10/20/30 years ago when we were shit? etc

Especially don't dare post anything even slightly negative in the match thread - then you're definitely having a "meltdown" and you're "worse than RAWK". Won't be long before you're told to "fucking man up/grow some balls" etc.

Even if you love Poch and what he's done and think this Spurs team are the best you've seen in years, one negative comment and people will assume you're an ungrateful bastard who has no idea how good he's got it.

Don't make the mistake of thinking you're posting on an internet forum which is designed for the discussion of differing opinions - you're actually in a carefully-controlled micro-climate where any dissenting views are met with a flurry of negs and regular questioning of your age/intelligence/sexuality.

Now fucking man up and grow some balls, don't you know how good you've got it?

There is also a huge chance that our golden era will get better and we will win something.

People keep making knee jerk reactions. We lost what will be one of our tougher games this season by a solitary goal.

We lost because Dele missed a simple chance for us and we defended poorly.

Utd lost to Huddersfield last week and might not beat Chelsea next week.

All this bed wetting needs to stop.

It's a disappointing result but has very little to do with "winning mentality" and everything to do with the fact that we missed our good chance and they scored theirs.

Llorente was ineffectual, which was disappointing. He may not be good enough.

Bear in mind Chelsea managed to win the league last year despite losing at old trafford.

Matic given MOTM - did I miss something.................?
I'd have given it to Davies just for that one goal saving tackle!

Agree with aspects of this all however this mentality from fans and players needs to change for us to actually win things

Now all the experts have come out it's clear what we need! A game changer! If we had this mystery player today we would have won and Man Utd wouldn't have. You can't dispute this!

You think Poch has not created the right culture at the club?

I think we are missing that final piece of the puzzle mentally. It might be an impossible job for him because historically (recently) we are a failure of a club. We simply don't have that winning aura and we just can't shake off this always lets you down sense despite us being a superb team these days. I hope he can instil this into the team/club but he himself hasn't won anything either as a manager.

I don't think him, the team or anyone in particular is to blame, the fact is Man Utd etc are one thing and we are another. Only way I can feasibly see it changing is by winning something, anything, other than that I don't know what can be done. It's pointing towards another year of nearly but nothing to show. 3 years in a row with no evidence of change.

Disappointing to lose against 2 title rivals in the last few minutes this season. Both goals our own fault, Hugo and Wanyama v Chelsea and Verts and Dier today.

The fine margins are the difference.

Although it's only October the league is gone for me imo. We're gonna be fighting for top 4 and that's it. Maybe we can do something in the CL.

At least we will stay 3rd even if Chelsea and arsenal win.
