Seven goals in ten games tells the tail, they couldn’t do any worse by sticking Rooney up top on his own....

Anyone else massively surprised by how little an impact Klaassen has made at Everton so far? Barely seen him do anything of note

Victim of the lack of a coherent system as much as anything else I think.

I think he's a victim of the fact that he really, really isn't very good.

Some people were going crazy here in the summer that we hadn't gone for him - I repeatedly pointed out to anyone who would listen that he would struggle to make our bench, and certainly wouldn't get anywhere near our first eleven.

He's just majorly bang average and overrated due to accomplishments in one of the weakest leagues in Europe - much like Jordy Clasie actually.

They'll have to buy a couple of players in January now. A lack of investment then and it will be hard for them not to be in a relegation battle in the last 3 months of the season.

When you are facing difficult relegation battle is it really wise to go with a manager with no experience whatsoeve

As much as I’d love to see it, anyone that thinks Everton will be relegated are off their nuts. We see it every year, a big team will struggle but never actually get relegated.

Unfortunately for Everton, they bought too many players of a similar type and neglected the out-and-out striker's role. It is initially surprising that they are as weak and porous defensively, but when you are as unbalanced as they appear to be now, you can understand that aimless football leads to frustration and a lack of focus that undermines the whole team. They never look like scoring. And it's hard to keep the ball away from your goal if you are so pointless in possession. Unsworth at least seems to recognize the need to get 2-3 direct players back in the side, but they've got a long winter ahead.

They had spells yesterday when you thought, yeah, they're going to get back in this, they're going to make a game of it. Davies was buzzing around, rooney was stroking the ball from side to side, both full backs were pushed up.......but the ball goes into the box, and nothing, absolutely nothing. Just fizzled out. How a top 8 premier league team can go into a full season without a recognised striker is astounding.

Newcastle too, sure they, along with Villa, Leeds, etc were on the downward spiral. But the Premier League is a brutal competition, if Everton don’t improve, the people around them almost certainly will. And it’s not as if Everton haven’t been treading water since Moyes left. Martinez wasn’t great there, and even though Koeman did ok last year, they’ve lost their main goal scorer and main creator (Barkley.)

They need to get the managerial appointment right.

I don’t think they will go down, but it’s not impossible.
