Let's face it, the first team are going to win tonight. Look at the facts:

Youth team beat Dortmund at home. First team beat Dortmund at home.

Youth team [REDACTED] Apoel away. First team beat Apoel away.

Youth team draw away to Real Madrid. First team draw away to Real Madrid.

Youth team beat Real Madrid at home. Therefore tonight, in a flawless theory with no redacted logic-holes, the first team will beat Real Madrid at home.

Just sayin'...

Is Oliver Skipp better than Harry Winks at the same age?

Hard to say, they're different. Winks came alive by getting on the ball and progressing the play, Skipp is obviously a lot more anchored and gets things started. I'd say for seasoned watchers who know what they're looking for that they're both at about the same level at the same age. Where Winks was ahead was in his maturity, he was so professional and focused from day one. Skipp can show his age at times by losing concentration or being a touch inconsistent. Right now though you'd be mad putting money on him not making it. He looks custom made.

Though I don't like ranking players, especially top players I would say in their respective positions Skipp was definitely the better player. I thought Will Miller was better than Winks at u18s but they were both quality players. Skipp isn't as good on the ball as Winks but he is ahead of him in terms of development and ability at the same age. Skipp's forward/attacking passing is also underrated due to the role he is asked to play, if he had more free reign I think people would see that Winks I think stepped up a level after when he turned 18/19 when I started to think he could play for our first team.

Skipp seems to have everything.watching the u17s world cup it seems staggering that he was over looked.looks a better prospect to me than TOB.

Skipp is quality, I think on ability TOB is slightly ahead of Skipp but he doesn't 'show' it as much if that makes sense. His ability to carry the ball is better than Skipp and I think his potential to be more dynamic and how well he did at the Euros meant he was always gong to the World Cup. Gallagher took Skipp's place. Skipp can feel hard done by but apparently Gallagher has had a great season.

Also feel for Eyoma. Really like him as a CB. Doing a decent job out right, while he's been away BLF who as generally been a LB as had chances in CB and done really well. By the time he comes back from World Cup BLF is still getting his chance at CB and Eyoma kept at RB.

Really want to see him at CB and Hinds on the right or a 3 at the back with Eyoma, JT, BLF/Brown and Hinds RWB.

Anyway really good performance today so much talent in this team, and there is still a lot in reserves. There are so many players in this team that are or will be good enough for the first team, that Poch is spoiled for choice in filling in squad spaces if he wanted to use them.

I'll also point out again how pleased I am for Winks. I remember a couple of years ago where someone said to me it is unrealistic for any of the Winks crop to play for a Top 4 challenging team or in CL, and I just said wait and see, as there was no point arguing something which I have no control over. Others of course said the same.

And now Winks is balling for us and being saved for the big games in the absence of our starters as they've been injured. I'm not blinkered and saw he made some errors but they are teething errors that will happen when an inexperienced player is playing top level football. Errors that bare in mind even experienced can make.

He is doing so well and I'm so proud of him, he'll go along with the other however many academy players have played for our 1st team and not embrassed themselves and in fact looked like on of our best players. 2 consecutive games among Kroos and Modric and while he was on the pitch won 4-1. Keep going Winks and top PL player in him

Remember, on the "continent" has been common to play (talented) players out of position for them to develop overall skills and toughness. There are plenty of such examples.
Even Bale is an example and product of that - albeit in his case he was played as a LB as that was the position most saw as his best spot. Of course, Harry knew all the time that Bale would become a world class forward ;)
So I don't mind seeing academy player played out of position - as long as there is a clear development plan behind it.

From reading about Skipps he is listed as a defensive midfielder rather than a box to box type like Winks so looks like they could play together in the near future and compliment each other quite well?

Absolutely. I see Winks as, as much as anyone can be, a replacement for Dembele. Skipp is much more of a deep lying playmaker-cum-tidy up'er. I think of players like Deschamps, Essien and to an extent Scotty Parker when he stopped haring about like a headless chicken. Better on the ball than a strictly defensive player but more solid defensively than a player with a licence to float about and link things together.

Lovely ball by Edwards for the winner, also his penalties are generally very good, cool under pressure. Really pissed I forgot this game was on yesterday.

Yeh, Binks is a centre half although before he declared for England he was playing for Scotland and for some unknown reason they played him at left back, which...he just isn't. At all.
